Missing HOF Bret shards

I am not in the business of blasting the company. I’ll let others do that. With that being said, the fact that the blog post for HOF Bret says that 375 shards were available on the limited time tour in addition to 3 silver bags and 9 bronze bags, and no shards are on the tours is one of the worst pieces of communication the company has done.

The feuding was made harder by lower first time scoring. A huge piece of the community feuded differently because of expected shards on tour.

These things lead to lack of faith in your brand, and ends the month on a very poor note. The shards need to be added. No other resolution seems right.

I understand mistakes can happen very easily and that accidents happen. My main two concerns are that 1) people marched out how to get the shards and many likely put resources into rude or Andre they may otherwise have saved. And 2) by correcting the shard recruit in game to 1200 when it originally displayed 2000 many people would take that to imply that all the rest of the blog was accurate. The info in the blog also stood for the entire weekend as well. So for almost 72 hours this information was and still displayed as such. I feel it is doing the community a disservice by not honoring what is published.

We have a very smart and connected community that does there best to explain events regularly and what should be expected based on what is placed in the blog. It is their hard work on their personal platforms that drive much of the excitement within the champions community. It is always disappointing when the game falls well short of what they promoted in writing to the community.

Yeah the line that says subject to change allows for this stuff to happen. Its also sunday i highly doubt that the will resolve this issue today or likely tomorrow.

It’s like Groundhog Day: same thing every time.

You make sloppy mistakes, the players get upset about it, you go back and edit the blog and say “well it was subject to change anyway.”

It repeats itself every time and the players suffer.

If you guys actually honored what was in the blog I promise you that you would stop making so many mistakes and avoid this drama every time.

Every other business in the world honors its commitments and eats the loss if they make a mistake. There’s no reason mobile gaming should be any different.

Please break the cycle.

Very unfortunate the community is punished for mistakes like this. I hope they resolve this in a way that won't leave their player base upset at the end of an already underwhelming MLC...

I understand a business is a business, and typing errors can occur, but come on I was chasing Brett and didn’t have tons of time to feud because of the hours on the time. I was looking forward to those shards to help me over the hump. I feel you need to give everyone those shards to make it right. I know you won’t do it but instead give us 5 appreciation bags. Let’s make this right for the community scope

I skipped the female feud to attend the royal rumble. My very 1st pop. Knowing a lot of shards would be on the tours. I even feuded late last night after the rumble to get where I needed. Then, you decide to change the rewards on the tour. This is another reason why I don't pay for any memberships now.

The right thing to do is to put the shards back in the tours. Or for those who have done the tours awards those people.

As can be seen by the previous posts, many people, myself included, based the way they played and the time and resources invested based off the information provided, only to have the information not be correct. Sadly, this is not the first, and probably not the last time an error occurs. Do the right thing ar this point, and just put those 375 missing shards in a message and send them out to the community.

So it’s really interesting that we get to todays tour I am all prepared to recruit my hof Bret hart; but for some unknown reason 375 shards are missing from this weekends last tour! I see 3 silver bags, 9 bronze bags, and 375 shards all are supposed to be on the tour that equals 750 shards from the tours only! So I ask you scopely where are the 375 shards that were promised in that blog! No where does it say add the silver bag shards, and bronze bags shards to get 375 shards total from the tours! The way that reads it is clearly 3 silver bags, 9 bronze bags, and 375 shards to get from the tours!! Actually this is such a huge mistake on your part that even when Mherex did a video describing this event he read it the way that everyone did, he actually even said that this event looked amazing, and great job scopely, well to say today is a huge disappointment would be saying the obvious! I have kinda giving up on complaining to you but this is too big a flub for me to keep quiet, extremely disappointed in this last days tour! 🤮

People planned their weekend around blog info about shards. The blog stayed like that for ALL WEEKEND and as of now is still the same. Its wrong info. I get it. But people were counting on that for their weekend. I for one would not have spent what I spent if I would have known that the blog information was wrong. So scopely, compensate and compensate like you should because this was a big screw up.

Now that I got a joke in, this is definitely kind of frustrating. Obviously blog subject to change, etc. but it is frustrating to have this info for all players, and people can plan their spending, gameplay time, and resources around trying to do what they can to get what the blog implied was accessible and now there seem to be a big chunk of people who may be short because of it.

I know a good chunk of people whose HOF rosters aren't the best given the general spendy nature of the group, and Bret seemed to be a generally accessible and good option with some solid grinding and it looks they may come away from this entire month relatively empty handed, which is only gonna leave some bad tastes for this kind of MLC cycles.

It's OK to change your development mindset after announcing things to your playerbase. It's even OK to get things wrong.

But if you know it's wrong, the least that can be done is to communicate that as quickly as possible to your customers in the myriad ways that you have established to communicate with them, both in and out of the game. (A very good example of this was clarifying that Bret was a 1,200 unlock and not a 2,000 unlock)

Otherwise, you open yourself up to (sometimes admittedly bad-faith) criticism, especially when many of these players know that this isn't happening in a vacuum but is a pattern of behavior.

The event actually ended up being balanced very similar to the Riddle event in terms of how attainable the weekend chase card was. But many players did not realize that until the last feud had ended, cutting off one method of obtaining shards that had been available to them, with no idea that the rug was about to be pulled under them.

Actionable items

1) Make shard counting and recounting in blog announcements a priority as it's something that most players are keeping an eye on. I assume that proofreading the blogs isn't something that's very high on the priority list at the company, but at least making an effort to make sure the path for players to acquire the chase character is clearly defined would be appreciated.

2) Stop time-gating the weekend tours and drop them all at once. That way everything is laid bare for the playerbase and they can be made aware of changes that happened from blog to live. I can assure the development team that they have successfully created a game where there is plenty to do after reset on Sunday if tours have already been completed (stip tours, victory/MLC tour catchup, daily showdown, free time with family and friends)

I read the blog and planned the actions necessary to get 1200 shards. Had the blog accurately reflected reality, I could've made different plans.

Why should I read the blog at all if the contents of it are meaningless?
