    Maybe more than blah blah blah. You said that this was a horrible concept of a game mode. Why do you think that?

  • Donjay56
    Donjay56 Member ✭✭✭

    1) it’s a beta. They fix things based off of betas

    2) there’s a midweek event coming where you can get SD coins

    3) they asked for constructive feedback about the game mode, not event, so maxing the event and spending has nothing to do with the game mode.

  • Mit Abstand das schlechste Event seit dem ich das game spiele... Nix funktioniert und für nen Wochenende totaler mist...

    I’m curious as to why being able to pick a level as a starting point would be worse than starting at level one. I’m not saying that you are off with your opinion, I’m just curious. I played last night and didn’t see most of the glitches that happened today, so at least for me the experience wasn’t ruined.

    I accidentally deleted my previous post, so let me try a cliff notes version from memory...

    What I liked

    • No health pack usage needed to encourage playing over and over again
    • Encouraging players to use different "styles" of characters to keep people from only using Acro Austin or similar cards
    • Having a low barrier to entry for active factions: No cash refreshes or "faction boss" tickets needed.
    • When on wi-fi, connections ran pretty smoothly for a beta.

    What I didn't like

    • Boss breaker animations - discouraged me from using them when I could be doing DPS or breaking shields.
    • Move animation penalties in general - it's a lame thing to build my lineup around if I have to ask "Did Scopely animate this guy to have really long moves?"
    • Reward structure - faction boss contest only contributes a sliver to the best of 2021 contest, and there's no real reward other than that. No boss breaker currency, not even a smattering of loot-box esque items.
    • Number of lobbies was very low considering lobbies can be run with as few as one person.

    What I'd like to see added

    • invite-only lobbies to allow for team curating for high-level runs and not have to wait out kick timers
    • more obvious AI elements to help players that may not have been watching all the preview videos from content creators - a more obvious message of "damage won't count unless you break [color] gems!" or something to that effect.
    • Maybe a pipe dream, but increasing move animation and gem effect speed across all cards for this mode alone would help make it stand out as the active, fast-paced mode that it is.

  • This was a fun mode of playing the game. This is probably the least stressful way to play the game because the possibility of a random bug or crash doesn't do any harm to you outside of having to spend more time trying again. Depending on the multiple designs possible with this mode, it also provides usefulness to a variety of characters that many of us may have forgotten or moved on from.

    Other than the normal bugs that tend to happen with this game as a whole, I believe this mode could be improved by giving a breakdown of the scoring during or after the match. When you're pretty much focused on what you are doing battling the boss, it is hard to tell if you are being effective or if your team is carrying you. It would be nice to know how much of the shield each player contributed to breaking (or percentage) and how much overall damage each player did to the boss (or percentage). Also, it would be nice to see a recap of what the boss breaker skills did for the team if they were utilized during the match. Seeing these things may help others in the match make better decisions in the future matches going forward and be able to understand the mode more.

  • This was by far the most broken event I've ever seen on this game yet. The solo contest and the milestone rewards are brilliant, the blitzes... despite not giving out rewards are easy but the main part of the contests is an absolute disaster which I hope we never get ever again. Having to break 125-150 blue gems just to break a shield is ridiculous and way too time consuming, especially when 10 minutes into a match the game would freeze forcing you to force close the game and then you just wasted 10 minutes for nothing... everything about faction boss is boring, makes invasion look good and fun. I hope you just stick to showdown and feud, if we get faction boss again I most certainly will never play it, completely broken, too many problems, matches takes too long and it's just not fun

    I personally don’t like this boss fight beta… the fact that your mp doesn’t go up after each swipe unless you swipe the gem color you need for your move is not a good thing, after lvl 7 the mp should go up 1 after each swipe of gems like it does when it’s your turn in a regular fight. If the cpu can get advantageous like freezing one of your moves the player should get the mp up as an advantage. The break 200 blue gems was different and it was kinda cool but it gets annoying after a while. This is a concept I can do without as it’s fun for an hr or so then it’s ok this is boring and put down your phone. I’m someone who plays from waking up to going to bed and last night was the first time in a verrrry long time I said after a 1.5 hrs of playing boss fights I’m going to bed.

  • Who knows if it was good or not. My faction doesn’t max the events so i can’t participate even though i spend a lot of money on this game. Ah well i like the people in my faction guess I’ll just have to hang w them on showdown and feud

  • Hey I am Here for my feedback on new Faction Boss Thing. I really Appreciate this Idea. It is something new came out of the box and really a Thing what will unite factions more.

    I understand this is very new to all of the community so some Glitches and laggings are clearly understandable after all any thing on Trail with limited resources and person behave different and behaviour can change while it out for people at large.

    I will here want to suggest few points to that develppors should also consider;

    1. Thoush its a faction event so a faction contest must be there.

    2. Faction leaders and or officer shouls allowed to remove a lobby if it was startes by a single person. dispite such person in in game so that single guys can not be hold a lobby for long.

    3. there must a time max of 30 mins if no activity in faction boss lobby after start that lobby will be disbaned (like Faction feud a time limit after such time brawls got ended even person is in fight.

    4. Faction Boss battle must be linka reward like resources or faction store coins.

    5.if Faction boss is gonna replace Showdowns I will say please do not do this or remove daily Sd coins limites on daily Showdown matches.

    6. there must a option if person with whom Superstar he is entering into faction boss entry not choosen Boss Breaker abilty he can not join lobby untill he do so.

    Hope Any body gonna read this and consider few points in next faction boss.

    I like changes so i like it however first one is not going as smooth it should be but still a littlf fun is there.

    I agree the shield thing for Seth was absolutely ridiculous. Having to break 175 blue gems just to be able to do any damage is absolutely terrible especially with all the connectivity issues. On top of that if you don't have a guy with a move that can break more than 3 blue gems at a time it just takes forever (sometimes multiple turns by then half your HP is already gone).

  • Donjay56

    You do realize that this a beta of something that they have never done before, right? And the feedback shouldn’t be about the blitz and event, just the game mode.

  • Donjay56
    Donjay56 Member ✭✭✭

    Some people don’t like challenges, know what a beta is and don’t know what constructive feedback about a game mode is, and it shows. I will say that the game mode is a breath of fresh air. It involves strategy and communication, and is more than T1 characters. There were glitches that have since been fixed. Lobby could use some work, stability issues as well, but both can be fixed. This makes us use our characters in a different way. The constructive feedback that we provide can help the game. Feedback like it’s broken, and I would play this because of the shield does nothing to help the game grow. Let’s try to help improve the game and put some thought into our comments.

    Overall it could be a decent game mode.

    Obviously one of the major issues is the lagging and connection. Really nothing else to say here. This is something you can will Obviously fix.

    Another problem is people starting a lobby and everyone else being ready but that person doesn't start for whatever reason. Would be nice if their were a timer for everyone including whoever started that just automatically kicks them out after say 2 minutes.

    Not enough time on the timer. Some of the move animations take 5 to 10 seconds which really kills the flow of the match.

    The shield thing for the boss is way to high. 175 blue gems to break before you can do damage is just murder especially when people don't have a character high enough that has a move that breakd more than 3 blue gems at a time. Would like to see this brought down quite a bit or maybe have a boss breaker you can equip to counter this (so instead of a 3 match blue breaking 3 of the shield it doubles it and a 3 blue match counts for 6 blue gems instead of 3).

    On the positive side this really encourages faction participation and working together and communicating with is quite a plus.

    Overall I like the concept of the game mode. It looks like it can be a great thing moving forward especially since players won't have to commit as much time on the weekends to it. Just need to make a few tweaks here and there.

    As a concept and change to the gameplay I think this is great. It introduces an element of team work that hasn’t been seen since Invasion (bring Invasion back)! There are bugs and I’m sure a lot of the posts will focus on them so here are some ideas and suggestions on how to improve it:

    1. The gem shield is a good mechanic, it would be good if it existed in reverse as well, e.g one of the boss breaker boosts was to shield another player so you can bring in a weaker player with specific abilities to break the boss shield, and then shield them.
    2. It’s difficult to know what the boss breakers actually did, a flash up message on who you just helped or changed when you press it, or when you get helped by another would be good.
    3. It would be nice to be able to select the player to apply the boss breaker boost to as well. Boss breakers with a little more depth could be great at introducing a deeper element of strategy than just what knife you bring to the gun fight.
    4. An internal scoreboard at the end of the match or when you are dead and waiting would be nice. How much damage did I do relative to my team mates, what’s my damage per second, how many shield gems did I break.. etc
    5. The introduction of props to help with the game mode is worth considering, or a boss breaker ability that is charged by scoring. These could be reserved for better abilities such as revive a player, heal x hp, reduce next boss damage by x% etc.  These could be rewards for 1st time wins or in the milestones of the contest to push people to face higher level players.

    Good work. Beta went great considering it’s a beta!

    Agree that it can definitely be made better. The thing that's frustrating for this is that it's a good idea with really poor execution. Considering this stuff has already been beta tested before being launched for everyone I'd expect far less issues than what has been encountered.

    I love this game mode. The strategy and teamwork involved are fantastic. It's very rare in this game to actually work with your faction mates, so this has been a breath of fresh air to the game. I'm really excited to see the tweaks and variations to come!

    What I liked:

    • No ticket or HP cost. This allows me to try different characters, strategies, help factions mates, etc. Please never change this.
    • The boss skills are great. I know some people found the shield ridiculous, but having to use strategy to overcome it is the whole point of the mode right? I am excited to see what other skills we'll see down the line.
    • Great job on quickly increasing the lobbies from 10 to 20! Feud lobbies would be cool to see at some point if they could be set to 'closed/locked'.
    • The difficulty seemed to be set at a pretty good level. Levels 1-7 seemed manageable without going too heavy on strategy, 8 needed some planning and a good team, and 9/10 were super hard unless you had a really powerful lineup and excellent teamwork.

    Issues/Suggestions:

    • Having random people join lobbies with random characters makes strategizing much more difficult, so I think we need a choice of locked/open lobbies so people can strategize at higher levels.
    • Faction mate scoring seemed to work only for first-time wins. On 2 occasions, I only got half of the faction-mate score (I'm not sure what caused this?). This meant that those rewards were lost permanently, and I couldn't max the contest this time around despite finishing every match for each category. Replaying the levels still wouldn't give me the faction mate bonus.
    • Having Macho King being the key to beating this particular boss is fine, but hopefully, he won't be the only character capable of beating future bosses.
    • Boss-breaker animations look nice but feel too costly in terms of time to use. Maybe they could be shortened/removed or additional time added to compensate?
    • I would love to see some kind of scoreboard or match review after battles. I'm sure people would enjoy the bragging rights of doing the most damage, but it would also help to work on strategies for breaking the boss shield, etc.
    • Playing with friends in other factions would be nice. Special lobbies to invite friends, even just for fun without earning rewards, would be really nice.

    Listen. Bear here. Let me be direct and honest.

    Your team failed us again this week. Tons of hype over a new game mode. Teams are excited about the discovery phase and the end result? YOU HAD THE COMMUNITY INTERESTED AND ENGAGED. And what did you do?

    Server crashes. Game lock ups. Complete instability.

    It’s a shame. There’s a ton of potential here, but similar to the grand tournament, you guys failed us completely when it came to game stability. I enjoyed the mode, but was more frustrated by the instability than the difficulty / strategy.

    Fix your garbage servers and I am happy to provide a more detailed analysis but a greater than 25% failure rate? That’s trash my friends. Complete trash. Until then… brb… I heard the servers are locked again.

    Bear there.

    My feedback as follows;

    The good:

    • the game mode is good fun
    • nice to give factions an event where team work is important
    • sandpit mode gives everyone an opportunity to participate and makes the experience overall a lot of fun
    • the ability to open the slots up to global is nice (although does also have its downsides below)

    the bad:

    • the new mode makes a game which can be quite unstable at the best of times, an absolute lag fest which extends across the whole game - not just the boss element
    • the animations for moves are just too long which is extremely frustrating
    • the boss breaker abilities don’t seem worth using as the animations take about 10-12 seconds which feels like wasted time
    • the last 10 seconds of the match are a write off as moves don’t count and if your unlucky enough to hit a move in that time frame, say goodbye to any recycling as a result as you don’t get the gem MP from those moves.
    • for some unknown reason, sometimes the creator of the lobby will change? Happens mainly if using global match making.
    • blue gems rarely drop which makes breaking the shield feel impossible
    • Once you’ve reached your boss level limit, there is literally no incentive to play anymore. Nothing to grind or play for, which makes match making harder as once the initial buzz is gone and points earned, few people continue playing.
    • The rules of the mode are confusing and not clear
    • not sure if people with ordinary rosters tested this mode, but seems like only this with massive rosters I.e, the whales, will ever really be able to max or achieve big on this - which considering most of them are in their own factions, aren’t exactly hanging about in global match making to help bolster lower factions teams.

    the confusion

    • I don’t understand why we need to select our line up when you only take one into the match ups? What purpose does this serve when it locks that SS out of other game modes, i.e showdown? If the boss breaker mode doesn’t use up health packs then can we not just enter that mode at any health but start the game at full HP to avoid having to swap SS out of the line up when your moving about in other parts of the game?

    overall, I do like this mode and appreciate scopely trying to innovate, however it feels like the game itself just isn’t stable enough for it and it needs quite a bit of work to make it something more than just a fad which people will lose interest in.

  • Alright so... the concept behind the mode is interesting at least. Adding more strategy into the game is definitely a plus.

    The fact that we didn't need to heal after the match is good thing. I fear this was a temporary thing for this trial. Please ensure it's not.

    Bugs were well beyond anything that should have made it through your QA testing and had a large negative impact on how much of the player base has accepted the mode.

    As has been mentioned by several other comments, the game animations and gem movement times are bad when we only have 60 seconds to do damage.

    Not getting the MP/Damage for moves were used before the timer expired but when the animation or gem placement didn't complete before the timer expired is an unacceptable outcome.

    If the game is staying... you must fix the responsiveness during play.

    Yes, there were a lot of glitches but what new isn’t. I thought it was really fun. We didn’t lose TP, didn’t have to worry about another faction, and it was fun to figure it out with our teammates. I hope you keep improving it and don’t get rid of it. When it was playable it was fun. Everyone wants someone to hand them free stuff, but to have to figure something out was a challenge. That was new for someone playing for almost 4 yrs. Thank you! Screw the negativity!

  • MachooMan
    MachooMan Member ✭✭

    Liked the game mode as it involved some strategy but would like to see some improvements.

    1. The game lag was horrible and not only was it horrible but the timer continues to count while the lag is occurring so you/your team have less time during the round.
    2. After a boss turn it took around 4-6 seconds for your character to "recover?" before they were able to start functioning again, once again cutting in to the timer.
    3. Boss breaker ability extend timer - takes 4 or 5 seconds to do the animation and the timer only grants 2-5 seconds of 'extra time' so the time you spend using the ability is negated due to move animations.
    4. Move animation in this game mode are entirely too long, can barely get 4 moves off per turn after cascades happen.
    5. Using a choose gem move when the time was running out would result in you choosing gems, but nothing would happen and your MP would be drained, did not function the same for moves that changed other gems automatically when you weren't choosing.
    6. Each faction is capped at 100 players at first people per team the minimum number of lobbies should be 25, but more like 30 in case someone wants to take their lobby to global.
    7. An automatic timeout on a lobby if nothing happens within something like 10 minutes - close them out and free up that lobby space.
    8. Make choosing a boss breaker ability a pop up reminder - reminders are available everywhere else within the game, seems reasonable to have a reminder here if you do not have one selected.
    9. Rewards for the boss fight competition only gave rewards to the top 15 people, almost every event is AT LEAST 100 people.
    10. Including an event with the option to talent up 15k of a certain era, class, or type is not giving the community a chance, doing 15k in talent up takes an extraordinary amount of resources, let alone in 5 different categories.
  • I like the concept and appreciate having something different. However, lots of issues. Obviously everyone had lags and there was the locked lobby that took up time. Apart from that, it was very limiting. Only a few characters could help you and the highest levels were too difficult.

    It was also hard because it quickly became apparent which characters would help. If you didn't go in with one of them, you weren't wanted into the group.

    Need to scale back the difficulty level at 9 and 10.

    Need better and faster matching in global.

    Need a way to boot the lobby creator and replace him when you have 3 other players in and ready and leader doesn't start battle.

    Side note the event rewards are abysmal.

    Beyond the obvious issues with freezing and lobby being locked and lag issues.

    Overall I liked the idea of the mode. The way the turns worked is more how I thought stipulation tours should've been set up minus the boss damage/moves and just let you do whatever without fear of pins etc...

    Pros- It's great to look at using characters in unusual ways with very different move sets than you would in competitive play. It was fun to look at people who could exploit the system and maximize things.

    Cons- This mode really exemplifies a long time complaint about the skill plate system that makes it far too restrictive especially since the availability of skill plates has so drastically changed since release. There are many plates that would make this mode MUCH easier that would be utterly useless outside of it and you can't swap the plates so you can only swap straps which is far too cost prophibitive as well. Encouraging trying new setups is counter to restricting the new set ups. There needs to be a kick feature that isn't tied to whether somebody hits ready. Frequently you will try to set up a battle with a specific group only to have somebody jump in and refuse to leave/switch to a character that would be useful. The level 9 and 10 bosses were far too difficult and 9 all but required a specific character and 10 seemed to require one character as the sole damage dealer otherwise you couldn't possibly do enough damage to win. The 4th slot which almost exclusively was king booker had no character that was worthwhile in generating/destroying blue gems making it so one character is going to be dead weight and need to be carried at later boss levels is bad planning/design. The rewards weren't worth noting. There was no reward for the people who had to do match after match getting people through 9/10 with either macho king or one of the shield breaking characters.

  • Worst game mode so far. After the game introduced.

  • I like the notion of the set up. However the glitches and lack of point attainment made it hard to get into after awhile. Congrats on a new way of play. Hoping the future times of play will be smoother

    The game mode has potential, but boy did it leave an awful first impression...

    Pros:

    • introducing a co-op of sorts, in which you even if you don't haver the strongest posters there is still a part for you to play;
    • more interaction between faction mates;

    Cons:

    • the rules are to restrictive and after a level (in this case was 8 and above) only a few rare posters had a chance of wining;
    • the gameplay is penalizing for the players whether by the absurd amounts of lagging or by the time that it takes for the animations to take place;
    • to many bugs even for a Beta: servers not responding, board freezing, fight starting but geting stuck in lobby screen nonetheless and at one point even the game not showing correct colors, because it wouldn't accept a match of 3 red jewels;
    • Multiply gems not counting as such when breaking gems is kind of random and annoying.

    In it current state I would give it a 1 out of 5, but with potential to go up to 3,5 or even a 4.
