Bracketed leaderboard in Showdown not working as described

EDITED to include roster size and league based on information from portal taken after event ended, so roster sizes might have changed slightly since event went live:

I've entered this as a bug because it presumably isn't working entirely as intended...

I've attached a screenshot of the Top 7 of my supposedly bracketed leaderboard in today's showdown competition. There are 27 in my leaderboard and 3 of the top 7 have roster talent almost 4m higher than mine and others in the bracket.

My faction mate Steven1875 (12.037m - League 23) is in a bracketed leaderboard of 9, where they are all in League 23 -24 and all have roster talent between 12.019m and 12.045m (EDIT now 12.021m - 12.049m)

For those of you who wish to cross-reference this, their player names are as follows: Brian Lenky (12.023m - League 24), CajunRunner (12.021m - League 23), G Unite (12.029m - League 23), Michael179819 (12.023m - League 24), PumalumaPinky (12.074m - League 24), Chris peck (12.023m - League 24), Drocity21 (12.047m - League 24), JamzThe One (12.049m - League 24)

So, it appears that in true Animal Farm style, not all bracketed leaderboards are created equal… in fact, it's not even close.

Could you please clarify why some people are in brackets which seem to be grouped "more fairly by league and roster power" (as it was described in this week's news release) and others are shoe-horned in with VIP Level 12 whales who are more likely to buy extra energy and spend their way to the top leaderboard rewards?!

    So, I've been doing a bit more digging

    Thanks to faction mates, I've now got two examples of leaderboards containing 9 people and both of those appear to be genuinely bracketed by roster talent within a league. The first is above, the second is as follows:

    Grudge Match (11.780m - League 24), JPatty21 (11.790m - League 24), Tompet (11.778m - League 24), dluiz (11.796m - League 24, yes1988 (11.777m - League 23), Aiiim1701 (11.780m - League 24) and Martin712195 (11.811m - League 24)

    Other faction mates are in leaderboards of 18 and 27 (both multiples of 9) and seem to have a degree of bracketing of subsets within the group, but generally a much greater spread. For example, from the ones I've been able to find, alexdonut's leaderboard has 6 people at 8.6m, 4 at 10.6m, 1 at 11.3 and 1 at 11.6 (I don't have all the names of his "bracket")

    So, clearly something isn't working as intended and it's not a level playing-field and nowhere near as described.Presumably this is something that isn't going to be rectified before the event ends in 3 hours? But seeing as you're all about fairness, I assume you'll be giving all players the same rewards (including the pulls) seeing as they haven't all been given the same opportunity to earn them?

    Thank you for the research and shedding some light on this. No matter what, they always find a way to tilt the competition in favour of some players and make things unfair for the rest of us. I have a roster of 9.62M and players in my bracket were as high as 12.77M. They say the brackets are based on League and Roster Strength, but it appears like that’s only one side of the coin.

    Thanks SmarkSmasher. I've not long realised that my leaderboard is visible in-game and so having updated the two 9-brackets above, I can now have a look at who exactly was in my bracket of 27. You should be able to do the same if you can be bothered.

    I'm taking this information from in-game rather than the portal, so the roster sizes might differ slightly if you look them up on there, but by looking in-game via their respective factions, I can also see their VIP Levels:

    27 - Mac37, DX WORLDWIDE MOBB (7.45m - League 23 - VIP Level 10)

    So, everyone is from League 23 or 24 (assuming the two currently without factions aren't genuinely in League 1 as the portal suggests), which is as was described in advance.

    But there appear to be what could be considered four roster brackets within the leaderboard:

    9 between 13.8m and 13.9m

    2 between 11.1m - 11.5m

    6 between 9.97m and 10m (but I was 9.98m when event started)

    10 between 7.4m and 7.47m

    So, it doesn't seem "farewell unified leaderboard" is entirely accurate. It's still a unified leaderboard of a sort, just a much smaller one. But still congrats must go to JSP SAHIL for seemingly beating the system and finishing second.

    I've linked to this discussion in my post in the official Discord channel and have tagged Firpo there, so I look forward to getting some sort of explanation in due course.

    In the meantime, I'll be hoping for a bracket of 9 for the women's showdown later. Otherwise, I'm screwed.
