Kicked out of expeditions

Why is it that every time a trial character leaves the roster we all get kicked out of our expeditions? It has happened at other times as well but trial character removal is the only correlation I've noticed so far.

  The game goes down for the removal and that causes the expeditions to end.

  If you autofill the event, even if it's already returning, you still the same full reward for those kicked out expeditions. Sucks if the event ends and you aren't online though.
