I have to say that so far this SD event has been great. Like many I can be critical and negative with how events are laid out but this one seems pretty bang on in every way can see. 1 hour energy refresh is way better then 2 hour snd makes event playable, love the new bracket format, bracket rewards seem good, prize wall looks really good. The tasks/challenges for points are doable and fun. Overall a really we developed event. Whichever one of you dev' s that came up with this event, please listen more to this person or better yet just do more stuff like this

I really like the bracket idea. But I'm in a top 75-80 and really not a big spender. My only issue is that I was against some woken warrior members who are generally big spenders so 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were not even a possibility for me since I don't spend. Its kind of unfair to compete against members from a top 3 faction when you are in a top 75 faction.

Personal Brackets is a brilliant idea. Give the person at Scopely, that pitched that idea a beer come weekend!
I haven't found myself that engaged in a SD event, in a long time.
Spent time really judging each opponent thoroughly before engaging.
I very much condone the increased cost of energy. Just wish it had been x10 higher to be honest. I hate the fact you can just use money to increase your playtime (Pay to win).
The increased cost had the added benefit of making the competition in the bracket very even.
Rewards for winning or even placing within decent places were over the top! Very worthwhile.
Please dont feel a need to nerf this in the future.
The pulls:
I wont complain about the quality of pulls, as its clearly shown, what we could expect.
Had hoped for a bit more than 2 x 250 PW currency, but others in my faction were ecstatic about getting 10 new characters.
I can only imagine the impact this can have on mid-level rosters.
10/10
Cheers

Showdown is awesome and the idea is amazing but the fact remains that only those who spend to buy more "energy" will win or be at the top. As a totally free to play player I could only reach 19 in the leader board and objectives were left on the table. At 19th place I didn't notice any rewards but I could wrong. I do for sure know if I was allowed to play uninterrupted without the need to purchase energy I would have competed along with many others. This need to be taken into account.

Overall, I think this has been a fun addition, and really think it adds something to Showdown.
The one request / feedback I would have is that it would be nice to be able to equip more than one promoter so that you do not have to make a choice between competing in your group and working on finishing the points milestones. I think for the people who put the investment in the promoters should be able to benefit from the extra coins promoters and the notoriety trainers.

I like the new brackets and leader boards. I don’t like spending money on energy. Make the energy a finite amount that regenerates with time like it is now. That would make this event great. The brackets help alleviate some frustration but not when people are paying to get ahead. If your going to continue that give players the option to either opt into free to play or pay to play for the event.

Good and Bad (mostly good)
I like the prizes and the structure of the brackets. I always like the Showdowns that give a lot of Showdown coins while also connecting to a separate contest. On that note, this was great. I like the concept of the way the brackets and "mini-tournaments" goes to. BUT….it does need tweaking. I had the top score in my faction in the last and I'm typically top 10-30 overall (and that's without buying extra energy). But I'm in such a high bracket, I finished 3rd, just one match away from being 1st. Obviously, I'm in a tougher bracket. But there are a lot of people in my faction scoring lower than I am, but they are getting the 40 coins and the 4 million energy. At that point, I'm being penalized for being at a higher level. I say either make the brackets random and not the same each day OR, probably a better idea would be if you are in a better bracket, the prizes should be better. Maybe an upper tier bracket gets 80 coins for 1st, 60 for 2nd and 40 for 3rd, something like that. That way lower tiers get to compete against comparable opponents with a chance for good prizes. The upper tier brackets aren't "punished" That or make an upper tier bracket have a wider range of who gets the prize. For example, an upper bracket gets 40 coins for 1-3rd place, 20 coins for 4-6, 10 coins for 7-10. Some kind of tweaking needs to be done when there are that many loot coins and that many contest points at stake.
Thanks!

This bracketed showdown was fantastic, one of the best showdown I have ever played! I never strategized this much for a showdown before. Getting loot pulls was awesome, even if thier quality was slightly worse than usual.
Some people were upset about energy purchase cost. I can't speak for everyone but I liked the high pricing, it kept the bracket more competitive and didn't turn into "who buys more stamina" race.
I know we're bracketed by league but I don't know whether roster talent played in part in matchmaking,I hope it did or hopefully in future we'll first be bracketed by league then by roster talent.
Overall it was great and it was rewarding how good we strategize. I hope we get to see more this style of showdown in future.

Good
As with most everyone else, I really enjoyed this SD.
Something related to the event, but not specifically the SD, by ending the Women's event Friday the final Queen points were not added till the event ended meaning if you were waiting to buy Tokens to get additional Queen points you had no chance as they disappeared at the same time that the SD rewards were given. Case in point I received 1.8M Queen points from being 1st in my bracket which left me 77K short of the next Milestone. I would have gladly purchased a few Queen Token pulls to push me to the next Milestone if I would have had the chance.
As I mentioned on the Discord (Chuq), I would also like to see some sort of benefit for Defending.
Lastly, I belive only the top League brackets received free Pulls. It would be nice to have a scaled (reduced) rewards with Pulls for lower leagues.
Overall though this SD was a great event.

wow - this was absolutely one of the best events Scopely has put together in all my years playing this game. I cannot stress enough how enjoyable this was. SD is a game mode I generally don’t enjoy. I do what I have to, get faction milestones, and solo milestones, but never do I enjoy it. Having the brackets, the chase to the top, the rewards - it all made this event amazing. Big thank you on this one Scopely. Lots of fun, very engaging, and great rewards.
With all that’s said, and how positive this event was, I do have two areas of improvement to offer.Firstly, I think the rewards for lower leagues should be adjusted. Being in league 24, I did get amazing rewards. But, hearing from faction mates in lower leagues, their rewards were not as great. One of the criticisms of this game is how much disparity there is between spenders and free to play. Or between veterans and new players. Most in lower leagues probably could benefit from the pulls. Consider a system where the lower league brackets get pulls as well. The top league received up to 40. So lower leagues could be up to 14, up to 7, and then no pulls at the lowest leagues. This helps lower league players to get rewards, considering the effort is the same regardless of leagues.
my second area of improvement is matchmaking. In this format, a player will always want to find higher notoriety opponents to continue to move up. Having opponents that are lower notoriety are going to force a refresh. The refresh should show only opponents 500 notoriety or better. The other thought I had was to have a slider where I could set my minimum notoriety difference. Using this could cost more coin to refresh, but the player is getting what they will ultimately look for.Great event - let’s keep this one going. Hope this format sticks around.

This midweek event was a standout experience, delivering some of the most rewarding moments for players in recent memory. The introduction of the new bracket based LB was a game changer, particularly for those who often feel overshadowed by high spending or elite players. The format somewhere leveled the playing field by allowing players to compete within their respective leagues, creating more opportunities for everyone to shine. Really nice to see something that gives new comers and lower level players a fair shot at meaningful rewards.
The SD itself was exceptionally engaging, with smooth matchmaking and no noticeable server issues. The absence for steel cage rules, 150% HP boosts, color-specific buffs or excessive gem reduction mechanics made the event feel balanced and much more skill driven. There’s no surprise why the community has been buzzing with excitement over this format, as it prioritized fun and fairness over chaotic gimmicks.
One aspect that stood out was how the event catered to both spenders and FTP players. While spenders could still get their hands on energy packs, they were primarily matched against others with similar resources, ensuring a competitive yet equitable experience. This thoughtful matchmaking prevented the event from feeling pay to win, allowing players of all levels to enjoy a sense of accomplishment. This further shows quality and fairness, making every match feel like a true test of skill.
The LB rewards were undeniably the highlight of the event, and for good reason. The top prize gets a staggering $100 worth of loot coins and 4M points, motivating players to push their limits. Even for those who didn’t secure the top spot, the reward scaling was impressively generous, offering substantial loot coins and points based on rank. Just a personal preference but If there’s one area for improvement that i’d like to address, it would be the rewards for players in the lower leagues. While the tiered system is understandable, but for those who just started playing additional incentives such as PW currency, straps, hangers, or other in game items could have make the event feel more inclusive. These additions would give lower rosters a stronger sense of progress and motivation to grind their way up the ranks. Such rewards could serve as stepping stones, inspiring players to aim for higher leagues in future events.
Atlast, this midweek event was a resounding success, delivering a fun, fair and rewarding experience for the entire community. The combination of a well designed bracket system, smooth gameplay, and generous rewards made it an unforgettable highlight. I just hope this format returns soon with more feature in the next MLC. A huge thank you to the developers for crafting such an exciting event and am eager to see what other content the team brings to the community next!0 -
NEW Top Of The Card Leaderboards:
Positives:
This is honestly one of the most fun and engaging experiences I have ever had in my 2 years+ of playing this game. The bracket system levelled the playing field a little bit and offered everyone an *almost*(more on this later) equal chance to compete for the same rewards within their respective brackets. This was instrumental in distributing top tier rewards to several players and not just the same 100 players making to the top of the Global leaderboards. Every match mattered and made an impact, defence felt more important than ever and players felt they finally had a reason to use all their energies even if they had completed all the solo SD tasks so they could fare well and get a better rank. Grouping players based on league(aka experience/time spent in game) and roster strength(aka skill) was a fabulous thought and enabled players to compete with equally potent fellow players. Finally, even a new or average player could experience what it feels like to finish #1 and get the rewards that a top player should be getting while putting in the time and effort.
Some players have expressed their displeasure with what they perceive to be “high energy cost”, but frankly, I find them to not be expensive at all. Granted, the energy was priced at higher costs, probably the highest it has ever been, but I think it was reasonable considering the fact that each win mattered more now than ever. If an energy purchase leads to a player finishing 1st instead of 2nd, he/she ends up with 19 more loot coins and 200K more solo contest points; so I find the new costs to be balanced and carefully thought out. To even the playing field a bit more I would even suggest the cost of energies to be raised higher. This has the potential of generating more revenue for Scopely while bolstering fair competition along the way.
Negatives:While I thoroughly enjoyed this new system, I will say that not everything was rainbows and sunshine and there were few issues and discrepancies that I would like to mention here in the hopes that the team goes over them and could address them in the future. I dont expect any answers to my questions as I am aware that the team usually never responds but I hope the team contemplates over them and hopefully we get an explanation some time in the future:
The players were- for the most part- divided into groups of 9,18 and 27. What I found to be interesting was that groups of 9 had next to no gaps in their roster strength, whereas there were significant disparities in groups of 27.
One of my faction members “Bacon Overlard” with a roster strength of 7.7M was grouped with a player “NYCE636” who has a roster strength of over 14.4M.
Another member of mine “LSSS3010” having a roster strength of 8M was grouped with players such as “BMFCHC” and “V1N4X11231052” and many more who have a roster strength of 16M.
The blog indicated that there won’t be any mismatches and that roster strength will be considered while grouping players, but that didn’t seem to be the case in every bracket. A disparity of 6 to 8M is pretty significant and is contrary to what the blog indicated. If you have a roster of 16M and in a bracket with players half your strength, you have a significant advantage over them, making the competition not so fair.
This raises the following questions:
Why were there unequal brackets of 9,18 or 27 and not just an equal number of players in every bracket?
What was the reason of putting someone in a bracket of, say, 9 or 18 and not in 27?
Why were the brackets of 18 and 27 not as fair as brackets of 9? Why were there major discrepancies in the roster strength amongst players grouped in brackets of 27 and 18?0 -
I loved the individual SD leaderboard. It was the most engaged I've every had with Showdown in 7+ yrs. This actually gave me and everyone a real chance to fight for top 3 in leaderboard and be rewarded.
I liked everything about it, and I loved the reward payout for the League 23/24 SD.
