The Big KO Showdown

First, I usually love showdown events. They are typically my favorite thing to play. This time though I was disappointed. The new energy feature for the showdowns is something I just don't like. Yes you could regain energy from the milestones but it doesn't do it for me. Then making it to where you had to have a striker in the first spot is very restrictive. Not everyone has a great striker to use for their first position. I understand this is likely due to the KO being a striker but still it was very restrictive making it less exciting to play.

The tour wasn't too bad. I was able to play it though didn't have the right character to get the extra points but that's how the game goes.

I felt that the points for milestones was a bit much for solo and faction. It's difficult for free to play players to even compete to get the shards for the chase character.

The prize wall, again fell short for me because I wasn't able to accrue enough medallions to get anything of significant value. But I guess for those who could have gotten more it was decent.

Overall, it was an okay event. Restrictive and not really made for those with weaker lineups.

    the new showdown system I have no issues with, shop is definitely better, main areas of concern;

it’s nearly impossible to grind towards maxing tournament now, I understand without paying a lot of money I’m not going to have the best characters, but you make regular characters available for points which is great, yet unless I play for 24 hours I don’t have a chance of maxing event, people work and have families be realistic when setting points milestones so people can grind towards max,

new sd promotors what’s the point in having them if they don’t add to the weekend events 🤷‍♂️

tours the character requirements are getting ridiculous now

tours the amount of solo points in there has dropped dramatically and been replaced with faction points which I wouldn’t mind if the faction milestones weren’t so high compared to the points given.

lastly no points for defensive wins, so why bother having it there?

positives no were near as many connection issues

    shop is great

like having one set character ( ie in class ) then one option that’s flexible, makes it more interesting.

suggestions - maybe give extra points or something for using a tag team link, aka brawling brutes, bloodline ect

  • The matchmaking in the showdown was horrendous. Myself and I know others were being paired with people with a talent close to double our own. Made it hard to move up at a steady pace.

I absolutely hate the new showdown. We should be able to use whoever we want on offense and defense. The energy system is not needed. $800 for a store refresh is extreme. To me the only thing wrong with the old showdowns was the store was out of date.

Very few positives. Tours were terrible, and the showdown event itself involved far too much grind for so little reward. Matchmaking is also still terrible - this was supposed to be fixed yet it’s worse than the previous showdown mode

The new SD mode is absolute trash. Amongst all of the (obviously stated by everyone else) comments already made, I'll add that the energy system vs grind dumb. It's a "grind, but pay-to-grind". Why can't we just grind things anymore?

Overall A event. The grind for showdown is easy.

    Faction leaderboard: (photos above)

Make the plate for top 5 factions. You’re creating a one side monopoly to the same faction.   The top 5 factions would make it to 500 players for the plate.  Notice woken members have officially taken over the leaderboard and you’re digging the grave deeper for other players in the terms of advantages and not helping anyone else.

    See photos.

TOURS dexter tour was challenging last 2 matches of hell mode with 3SG but it was not impossible.  Dexter has a decent design to at least make it through barely.

    Solo event:

Seems pretty well balanced with no real complaints.  Could always use more but it’s solid in the milestone aisle.

    Showdown

Double check the blog for CSS.  I figured the nWo was not suppose to be there but we had to go with it.

Energy: great concept still.  I was bummed the IGC option was removed this time from the store. I was ready to use the IGC I purchased this week. I guess it was for nothing though.

    Faction event/milestones:

The last milestone should contain ultimate straps.  We have officially moved towards those and I would suggest to have them in ever faction event.  Maybe 2 or 3.  3 does seem much but would be generous.

Talent up was not hard to achieve for factions.  It went fast.  But the problem is no one can keep up with Woken and they continuously get first place.  The only way to beat them is expose the leaderboard and cheat by swapping out faction members to do talent up. This was done before in Execution. Factions are about to get desperate if something isn’t done.

    Showdown showcase:

Maybe add some other stuff in the milestones.  They seem bland with solo points and energy only.  Maybe emerald, straps, other tokens, or even shards for hard to get people.

The global leaderboard points amounts should be raised to assist in reaching the next to last milestone at least for the top 200. Seems like the points should be doubled up each the milestones.

I ran into this start match error several times. (Photo shown on a few times).  Health of my opponent and me are messed up.  Customer service was on point with the HPs and energy. I can honestly say in the past year Customer service has greatly improved and became faster.

    Store offers:

HPs offer was awesome. I’m not sure if 20,000 was the intent at $4.99 or if it was meant to be 2,000 but 20,000 was on point and much needed.

No energy??? I was disappointed in the no energy in store for IGC. I figured that would happen though.

Only downside: when it’s the last few hours and you’re 15,000 notoriety, you only see 8,000 and rarely find a 15k or 20k.  So this makes it very very difficult to climb up the ranks with energy. you use coins to recycle opponents but can find only low level and nothing near your notoriety

the matchups are so dumb, people who can barely get 5 star strikers have to forcefully face 6 star superstars and it's very hard to advance in events when the matchup is like this. What is the use of having a strong defense if the first time you get defeated you lose your progress of 2 or 3 games you won

  • Nickko
    Nickko Member ✭✭

I just wanted to add can we get rid of required superstars for sd. Especially for the contest. You make it 1 required class for the main offensive slot, but then let defense run wild with open requirements. You're taking the fun and strategy out of sd. This ko showdown contest, and even the weekly one was literally just ghost buster cena and ultimate warriors with the veer plate. You tell me where the fun or strategy is in going up against 1 mp characters that can do 5 million damage or more per turn, or 1 mp characters that just drain your mp or even worse a combination of both? The only counter to that is being able to use the same characters yourself, which was the premise of sd.

Why did I waste coins and tp leveling characters specifically for show down and can't even use them the way i intended to now because of these required restrictions. Nothing like leveling characters up for sd purposes, and not even being able to actually use them to fight.

And for the love of God can we get rid of dodge!

    Event was good.

I can say we are getting used to this new SD mode.

Only complaint I have is that requirements were too stiff for SD itself and for tours. These were very difficult to do for a normal player. If you guys wanna make such requirements please put all the shards and shard bags in free nodes not as bonus reward. Because if you say these shards are free then everyone should be able to claim those but those nodes are very tough requirements. I have a decently large Roster with around 310 superstars but even I was only able to reach 1k shards for this proves how tough the requirements were. The solution can be that shards and bags are in free part and you can put 6sb Tokens or Emerald tokens in bonus node like it was back in the day.

Thanks for this great game hopefully you will make it even more fun to play in future.

    Thank you all♥️

The KO showdown weekend was the same as the initial revamped event, but some “tweaking” was done to make it a little difficult.

The showdown event was all right to me. If you managed the energy from the superstar event, it is possible to grind the event to a point. I was and still am tired of seeing Veer and JD plates though. They are to me game breaking. The Striker requirement should also be on defense also. No more open defenses in the event SD tourney. I believe having the requirement in both offense and defense would further interest the revamped game mode to me.

The tours were all right EXCEPT requiring an irrelevant “free” character that has basically zero chance to beat a 6s Cody. Trickster KO is absolutely one of the worst characters in the game in the meta at this time. Even with full armor and a 22% gem defense medal on a 20% gem defense strap was not enough to get that 100 shards of KO. Felt pretty suckered for even trying. People with Theory can get it done with ease though.

The shard boxes from the faction event was pure trash. Some people did get a poster, and I was looking forward to getting some Steiner shards from those boxes, but got too many Striker Lashley shards… Those boxes should be posters or shard of Striker KO in this case.

Next time you are giving a new plate out to 1st place, maybe rename first place as Woken Warriors420 will get the new plate. Every other faction will fight for 2nd place or lower. When I first heard that in Goldie’s blog reveal, that is what automatically comes to mind. I’d remove the plate for 1st place or make it for top 3 or 10.

Lastly, the prizewall was too money grabbing. You can only get resources even if you reach in some of the bonus milestones or were lucky to pull KO for his tours. It’s pretty deflating to me as much as the faction leaderboard reward.

Overall, the event was good. There are improvements that can be made, especially communication in the blog (left nWo as a way to get points, then said subject to change - it wasn’t meant to be on there), reward adjustments and prizewall cost reductions. There were also some technical issues from playing SD this weekend where the game freezes after beating King Booker, but after restarting the game, I got credit for that.

Overall thoughts about the new showdown format after a couple of events -

    1) It's still an incredibly boring slog and probably still my most despised event.

    2) Restricting our choices on offense while also forcing us into matches with certain CSS characters AND allowing any character on defense makes the worst part of showdown even worse. It's fighting the same annoying characters over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. I know that was repetitive but that was approximately once for every 20x my choice in opponents was GB Cena or GB Cena or GB Cena. At a minimum, defense needs to be restricted if you're restricting offense so heavily.

    3) The energy thing isn't as bad as I'd thought it'd be but it's still really annoying.

    4) Everyone keeps complaining about showdown coins from promoters don't count towards the event and our wonderful moderators tell us that's working as designed. So my complaint is that showdown coins from promoters not counting for events is a really stupid design.

    5) I'm really hoping that this is part 1 of the Showdown overhaul and part 2 is the one that makes it interesting and enjoyable.

As far as this particular event, copy and paste feedback from a previous event cause that's how this one felt. Super blah and I don't feel like the feedback should take more effort than the event design itself. 2 quick notes though-

    1) Constant over-tuning of tours is getting to be a bit much

    2) Faction events constantly being only talent up especially when there's multiple talent ups in a week is becoming intolerable not only to 95% of people's resources, but also characters available to talent up. I believe we're at 26 consecutive days with a talent up task in an open event.

I think the new showdown is the best thing about the game right now. Tours are fine. The only problem I have with the whole thing is their was not enough shards not even to buy i spent quite a bit on this cont test still almost 300 short. Love the energy part of the thing you don't have to sit up all night watching to see if you get attacked constantly. So over all I would give this new Showdown 5 stars grat job

The second official new showdown event literally went from bad to worse.

We all know by now that the game has gone pay to win and is quickly approaching pay to play and that makes me sad.

This weekend was just a cumbersome exercise in actual insanity. Over and over again we open bags or milestone rewards hoping for something new or different but it's just the same things.

The tour with the face of America was an exceptionally nice touch. I had forgotten he even existed when I saw he was the mandatory character. Great way to attempt to milk our hard earned resources for someone totally useless.

I will say it again in hopes that maybe one of the deaf ears has regained the ability to hear. Free to play and low paying players need to be given things they can do that are worth our time and effort. We can't always be put up against the whales and told our skill, time, knowledge and effort are meaningless. Give us separate tours in separate divisions with separate prizes that we can actually earn and win not just Buy.

Yep, I'm officially over this event format. It's now fallen into the same trappings of the other weekly events, which I can see now isn't a misstep, but an intentional kneecapping.

    • What do I mean by that? I mean that every weekend event now has a subevent that gives away the large majority of solo points for the contest, and that contest's progress is pretty much solely dictated on the depth of your roster. And if you do not have next to everyone required, you can say goodbye to millions of solo contest points and any hope of even getting close to the final 'free' milestone. Last scrimmage I was missing one person and barely edged my way into completing the Showcase Competition. This week, I was missing two and I basically didn't have a hope in hell. And considering I'm currently rocking a roster 430 strong, it's not just having a deep roster, it's basically just a given that you need everyone to compete or get very lucky week to week. All of these subevents have grinding options, sure, but they're usually unfeasible to accomplish given the time crunch and pitiful point per match output or outright impossible in showdown's case due to the energy system.
    • Rewards felt as if they were at an all-time low - I finished the contest with about 1,155 KO shards, which seemingly places me out of contention of unlocking him any time soon, and the only resource given out at any real volume other than showdown coins are Lumis evo tokens, and even then you likely needed to spend to get him to 4SB by the end of the weekend. I don't have the numbers in front of me because the blogs have become less and less reliable as time has gone on, but it's safe to say the econ hardly held up as well, and this was the stuff you basically needed a Steiner, Cody, and Theory to get.
    • Tours again plugged basically all of the shards into hell mode CSS rewards - thankfully there was only one terrible tour this week (Friday's trickster tour) and the challenge tour remained at least somewhat reasonable in its requirements, so it still came out above average for recent tour standards.
    • Came into the prize wall with about 13k tokens, which would be enough for some HoF HHH shards or some random econ prizes. That's about substandard for scrimmage standards, but probably above average for modern scrimmage. Who in the hell could possibly scrape together 30k medallions and not just buy the Rick Steiner shards outright via the weekend deal at that point?
    • Scrimmage remained about the same, but it seems as if the community has begun to realize that the leaderboards don't matter in terms of solo point rewards and have started dropping defenses in the hopes of easier matches. I'm one of these people because holy hell, does this feel like a chore with energy making matches a timed obligation. Combine this with a clearly borked matchmaking system (my heart goes out to the 5SG teams trying to pick through full 6SB teams) and defenses basically designed to work against the defender in every way, it's no surprise that people have given up on the competitive aspects of showdown already.

It doesn't state it. It's a question asked to the dev team. It works like the faction boss promoters do and those aren't intended to count towards the event.

They work in career and the weekend showdown they just don't give additional points but you still get extra coins.

Overall the showdown was pretty decent. I don’t hate the new energy thing. I can see why scopely decided to add it into the game. It does almost seem pointless because you earn more energy though the milestones. But I do like how it wasn’t super restrictive. I love showdowns as always and the new showdown store has me super jacked! I really like how you can earn as many showdown coins as you’d like and there’s really no limit. If I could change something it would be the prize walls. As a free to play person I don’t have any and don’t believe I will have any of the required superstars. Sucks to say but when it comes to these prize walls I’m always disappointed bc there’s rarely anything I can get bc things are too expensive. Prize walls can be used to help people like myself level up their roster with more reasonably priced items. I understand other players who have larger rosters and spend more money can max these events. However for someone like myself it almost feels like an insult bc I work my butt off in the game only to barely be able to afford anything in the prize wall

    Hello.

Not much good to say here.

Tour design has been terrible for the last two years. Not enough solo contest points, too few faction contest points, bonus characters are crap no one should be wasting time on. Not enough bags in tours.

Showdown used to be my favorite thing. It needed two updates, the store and the matchmaking. What you gave us was an over complicated mess. The energy has to go. It honestly ruins everything. I imagine this is a consequence of the unlimited coins, but they aren't worth enough in the event. You used to be able to make decent progress in the event by earning coins, now you can only make progress by winning with certain people (almost always people i don't have). So whats the point? There's no striving. Its just not very good.

Prize wall is the usual joke. All the shiny things require amounts that need spending to obtain. Just get rid of the wall and put prices on that stuff then.

Its not the worst event you've ever run. Its not invasion level bad. But its far from your best work.

The whole contest has become too much reliant on spend or don't win, requirements mean only the top few will be able to complete and max events, to get to the final Showdown milestone from the penultimate as I didn't have the premium guys I worked out it would take 155 showdown matches, what's the point ?!

    KO Showdown Event – Overall

I felt overall the event was decent, the tours were okay & doable to obtain the bonus points and resources. The character model looks good, I do like the animation for the Swinging Fisherman Buster, very KO.

    Tours

As mentioned tours were okay, I did struggle with the Dexter one as I was only able to take him 4 star bronze after the event, but the others were doable.

    Suggestions for the tours:

One idea I had was to have tours featuring Sami as required (Trickster, Acro or Tech) and a special one perhaps re-creating Wrestlemania having a tag tour requiring any KO and Sami against the Bloodline.

Would have liked more of the tours to give out the solo points instead of the faction points, the faction I am in hit 2 or 3 milestones, we were never going to have a shot at the KO plate ranking 1 and I know majority don’t spend to get the 6 star tokens to evolve characters for the added points, but they would have benefited more getting the solo points and using the medallions for the prizewall on resources, levelling up their roster or getting shards.

    Prizewall

I always get excited when I see all the good plates on the prizewall! But sadly I knew even after spending over $200 on two big pulls I wasn’t going to get half of the amount needed for a premium plate unless the spending continued (which it didn’t).

As a suggestion for the prizewall, I would love if you put up solo contest points as a part of one of the bundles, think it would be a good way to bridge that gap between those that spend and those that don’t.

If lower ranked rosters were able to get a fair decent amount of medallions through Showdown and Tours but no way able to max the showdown for the final 1 million solo points, being able have more points more obtainable would be great.

    Showdown

Second showdown event since the revamp, I must say no issues with the matches or the new energy system, being able to get energy from the milestones is a big plus for me.

Match making can be frustrating at times being matched with over powered teams, if you’re in the same league and have built up a big winning streak, yes you should be coming up with stronger or evenly powered teams, if others have come up stronger teams in lower leagues, maybe the balancing does need reviewing for fair match ups. Looking at total roster talent, which league the player is in & positioning in faction rankings.

Finished with 1225 shards, which isn’t miles away but disappointed with no new pulls from 80 pulls, that’s what you get for a big roster.

    Score 7/10

    Thanks for reading.

I commend you on your choice of feedback to copy/paste. I could not have said it better myself, because I did say it myself.

  • This event wasn't bad.

One thing I struggle with is the rewards for tours - one token doesn't feel a rewarding enough prize.

The showdown itself it's a nice idea that the first slot has to be a specific class. Makes you think more about how you try and win. I like the energy aspect, it just got to a point where the grind for the last milestone was too far out of reach to not play constantly.

The prizewall rewards again don't hit the desired needs. I got 13k worth and as much as I recruited hhh hof from it, wouldn't have had much to chose from otherwise. If things were slightly out of reach you'd make me consider an impulse purchase.

All in all - this type of event works for me and keeps me engaged enough

  • Sp81290
    Sp81290 Member ✭✭✭

Overall, the event was solid. I was missing two of the css towards the sub contest but was still able to earn enough coin without purchasing extra energy to max it.

The initial tour without Theory was….tough. Aside from that, the rest were pretty doable with characters that most would have.

The sd itself wasn’t too bad. I’m still getting used to the class restricted element. Would bring in more variety if it wasn’t just the offensive side that was class restricted. Can’t say I loved facing acro cena with the judgement day plate 9/10 times.

The only other gripe I had was not a negative for me, but those I faced. There was a stretch where I was able to hit the same, high notoriety opponent 10+ times in a row. Was amazing for my notoriety climb towards the end, but had to be painful for them.

  • Personally, I found the second-to-last milestone to be achievable, but the rewards for reaching it were not as good as those offered in other events like feuds. I feel that more TPs should be included in the rewards for the Showdown contest, as it takes a lot of resources to upgrade 6-star superstars.

The prizewall also didnt include TPs which led to few stock of tp for this coming week

One thing I would suggest is that the rewards for the Showdown contest should be similar to those offered in feuds. For example, players could receive enough tokens to upgrade one six-star superstar for each event every week. This would make the rewards more worthwhile and give players an incentive to participate in the contest.

As for the Showdown mode itself, I found it to be quite challenging as I had weak strikers. However, the second open spot helped me progress further. One area for improvement would be matchmaking, as sometimes I was matched with opponents who were much stronger than me. Nonetheless, I think the new Showdown concept is a lot better than the previous one, and it takes less time to progress in the contest.

In conclusion, the Big KO Showdown is an enjoyable contest that provides a good challenge for players. However, the rewards could be improved, and matchmaking should be more balanced. Overall, I would recommend the contest to anyone looking for a new challenge in WWE Champions.

Overall it was a rather good event. The re-newed ShowDown event is a great change. It still requires a grind but it’s a different kind of grind and it’s much less frustrating.

However, I do have 2 issues I think you should address:

    1. Loot pulls - it seems to me completely inappropriate that my 2 guaranteed featured (or above) items from a 40 loot coin pull were 100 Kevin Owen “Just Keep Fighting” shards while others got him at 6 stars rarity for one of the guaranteed loot coins, i assume some got him not for one of those guaranteed coins. I, like a lot others, spent $100 for those pulls. Now I don’t expect everyone to get the new character at 6s or at all, but coming out from thing big of an investment with practically nothing, is frustrating, inappropriate (to my point of view) and discouraging. I will not be spending this amount again knowing I will probably end with empty hands.
    2. How come losing on defense in the ShowDown event can take away up to nearly 200 notoriety but winning on defense gets me nothing? Seems unreasonable to me.
  • Cyrus0905

the showdown in its current form is a disaster. the automatic is the problem here. the solo event builds on the showcase event. and that on a special character. but if you don't have it, you won't get there. Grinding doesn't work because you're limited by your energy! I ask why should you play if you can achieve next to nothing? in its current form, the showdown is a weekend off for me. Not pay to win for me but pay to play! And that drives away the base of players of this game. Changes the mechanics. either put the special characters in a special era or let the showdown tournament start on Friday.
