IRON SHEIK “HALL OF FAME” DEBUT + Giveaway

They have to understand that not everyone has all the fighters who ask and it is impossible for us to collect good prizes

Average showdown. Rewards are average and things went smoothly.
The portal event is ok as well. Every single time you make a portal event where we don't finish it makes the game look bad and makes newer players leave as the game is dying. Make rewards easier and more frequent.

When you have an event for the whole community and you cant max out that event then something is wrong.
1 -
Pretty standard SD event, not really anything stand out either way tbh. New skill plate looks very strong, but obviously paywalled. But picked up a few resources in the milestones I could hit and didn't have to spend hours playing.
0 -
Again have to spend to max. To require $400 in spending to reach the final milestone just seems wrong. There should always be a gameplay method to max, even if it is a ridiculous grind, there should be a way.
1 -
This is improved over the previous showdown event in that I was able to hit more milestones than the previous event. Grindable components should be part of every contest. People willing to put in the time should not get caught at a paywall.
I'm not sure why the showdown coin points a) did not go live until the showdown portion went live and b) were only worth 10 points each. I didn't really like either of those components but the point value is less important than the total number of points needed. So maybe they were worth fewer points but maybe it was proportionally the same. I honestly don't know.
It was nice to see HOF tokens in the milestones. That should have been going on all month since this was a HOF focused month in general.
Tours were alright this time out. I always dislike the "use the character ti wins shards of the character" approach so needing Sheik to earn Sheik shards on the final tour is insulting to people trying to chase him in the first place. And the level to which he has to be raised up to in order to claim the hell mode shards likely makes those shards less desirable. I'm not saying you have to just give them away. I'm saying when you consider what needs to be done to earn those rewards it should be obvious to anyone playing the game that they're all but useless at that point. You used to do this all the time. Then you got away from it presumably because we all saw what foolishness it was. That's not something to bring back.
Overall, its a step in a better direction from the last few showdowns. They still are not as good as they were prior to the 1000 point notoriety threshold coming in.
I'm not sure how to take the hasty buffing of Sheik after the previews. Were you trying to see how little you could get passed us? Its interesting that this outcry generates instant action when other incredibly unpopular changes get ignored or must be endured because of your "roadmap". What made this occasion worthy of action but you took no responsibility for what was done with Wolfpac Sting?

These new showdowns feel like a chore now and nothing more.
solo contest you’re lucky to reach14/16 milestones.
why not revert back to if you have the superstars you were able to max the event?
I don’t see SD like it use to be. There needs to be more coins offered in SD. You’re gonna get the complaint that it’s a pay wall. I hope this anniversary contest isnt like that. Or a least as a compromise make 1/2 SD a pay wall and the other as if you have all the stars you can max the event and recruit the superstar. Players are frustrated and the sense of the game doesn’t feel exciting anymore.
If you’re gonna include a event up on webportal, offer one in game for Apple Pay and android customers. You’re losing money tailoring to the webportal only now
bring back the weekly F/F SD and increase the weekly tokens as well
bags should be increased in milestones
1200 there should be enough of 1500 shards in every where
1600 there should be at least 1600 exact
2000 up to 1600 shards in milestones
it just doesn’t feel possible to get any of the stars anymore when it’s based on luck of pulls. In the pulls you don’t get any Sheik shards. I won’t mention names but this time I got complaints about people making 40 pulls and not getting any sheik shards. They basically wanted refunds because it felt like a rip off to them . I personally don’t need another tech at the moment so I could careless for sheik. I even seen comments on the initial video that he wasn’t even that good on the previews that they had to tweak him to make him better. I think that should have been ironed out before the official previews if it was the case.
overall grade D- for this event

Contest was good,matches were fair

contest was good i liked the rewards and the card looked good.

First off it was fun. Until I didn't have the superstars to complete the extra bonuses in the tour as well as the Showdown requirements. Would love if you opened it up more to wrestlers that players might actually have even if you lowered the prize value. Over all is all the same as the ones before.

All in all it was one of the better showdown contests. I had the luck to have most of the required contest wrestlers, so with maxing everything exept HOF Andre, I could get to milestone 12 of 15 without spending money. I think thats fair, in other events it was just 9 or 10 of 15 with the same time spent into the game.
I don´t expect to get a contest superstar, I know that just people who spent a lot of money have a chance to get them. So it´s more the fun of playing and this was given this time, as it was from my point of view fair.
If possible, it would be great, if you can earn more points when using different fighters for the showdown event. Like bonus points when you participate with 30, 60 or 90 different wrestlers instead of just using 1 or 2 for grinding.

This event wasn't inspiring and felt like a bunch of work for marginal rewards. Despite being able to possibly do 5 bonus matches at once, having to go 100 of any kind was high. Accomplishing the tasks doesn't give you the max milestone so ultimately it is just time spent getting whatever prizes the game wants to give for free. The tours were fine.
0 -
The event was good again the milestone rewards should be higher and in the last day tour there should be some common player as a bonus one to keep the game equal for everyone

I did enjoy the m/f showdown weekend and the bonus characters to get more points for solo on par with the theme of the month which is hall of fame. The tours were also good with the CSS being no problem for me to get the remaining 2 bazookas I need for either Lee or zRhea.
But all good feelings ends with those two things. The solo event is now a paywall event where you do what you can free and forget it. You could before grind your way to the top, and while that should be an option even with the pay for loot milestones described in the blog, the pay part should be only to progress the event faster as a second option.
The community event’s prizes were totally underwhelming. It feels ever since the community got a free 4sb Goldberg (which sucks, especially in the game’s current meta), the prizes feel cheap and should be boosted to entice the community to work together better. Perhaps put the rest of the shards needed to obtain the weekend’s superstar if you max the solo in the last community milestone.
Just feel like the weekends whether it’s feud or SD events, is either take what you can get free and help the faction max the event and be done for the weekend.
This event was in my opinion the best midweek event this mlc. Definitely not the best midweek event ever but still quite good. Without spending, I and many others got to a decent milestone.
I think every midweek event ought to be this good if not better.
The tours were alright
I was shocked to realize that iron sheik hof did not drop much for people from bags. I was hoping that he would drop a lot for people over the weekend.
The showdown characters were alright I guess.
Definitely room for improvements but this event was one of the better midweek events we have had in a while

The showdown event itself was okay. There was no way I was going to be able to put in the number of games it would take to quire all bonus points, even with double dipping technician and HOF requirements.
The emphasis on pay vs play is still out of balance.
You sort of listened to the players when you retooled the Sheik, but he's still just another character hidden behind a paywall. I have my handful of shards for a character I'll most likely never be able to achieve.
The rewards were okay. I got confused at first when I got this "new currency" for the community event. I liked that it wasn't money based, though.
The best part of this was probably the return of a global event.

I really enjoy events I can grind out. But doing everything I can by 9am Sunday morning gets boring.
please randomly send me sheik.

I am not too sure where to rank this weekends event as a whole due to the fact I lowered my expectations based on the other events this month. I will provide what I liked and didn't like about each part of the event this weekend and hopefully it helps.
Showdown Event:
I enjoy when you guys mix up the Showdown and include the female wrestlers in the event. It makes the work we put in them mean something. I also liked how open the bonus points were, though there were no female required bonus which made having them this weekend seem odd.
Tours:
The tours were doable for most people on Friday and Saturday if you wanted the bonus and a little tougher on Sunday, but that is understandable. I was surprised to see the hell mode boss be as high as he was, especially with Saturday's tour being the MLC guy. Fortunately he is a good character this month and was able to clear it with little issue, but I believe 5sb would have been more accurate for where the hell mode boss should be when the MLC character is required. Also with no female being needed in the tour it makes me question why they were needed at all this weekend.
Solo event:
The points seemed fair this weekend compared to the last showdown event. I have no complaints on the solo event. I believe the pay wall was put in a perfect spot for the event and it gave most of the player base a fair shot to advance far in the event and the ones who wanted to chase Sheik and the plate a opportunity to go do it.
Faction Event:
The points seemed fair this weekend on the faction event as well. It was easy for everyone to get enough points to max the faction event and the rewards given were fair for the work. Probably the best part of the weekend. I would continue to keep the faction event this way.
Community Event:
Usually these events are a joke. They are either too hard to achieve, or so easy with rewards that are not worth it. This event seems to have balanced the two. The rewards were not great but at least went towards the weekend chase, and the points were achievable by most of the player base. Future community events need to be closer to this though 25000 coins in todays game seems laughable.
Character:
Sometimes a character comes out and I think WWE or Scopely really hates this guy (Brett Hart). That is how I felt when watching the preview on the Iron Sheik. He really didn't scale well to what you would want to see for a 5sg guy. I did not like the way the moves flowed and was not very interested in chasing the character this weekend. With the preview usually being the first thing one see's for the weekend event I can say this directly led to me having lowered expectations for the weekend.
Overall:
The event exceeded my lowered expectations, but there is still a lot of room to improve on things. The plates and gears are a nice adder to event's but it seems that after the weekend is over you never see these plates or gear again. Making them available in the black market or other avenues in the game would be a nice addition.

Besides the amount of Sheik shards available, this was an enjoyable event. Regular resources and progress in MLC solo/faction events were all pretty considerable.
Only negative feeling I had was seeing Honky Tonk Man as the alternate bonus character for the Sunday tour. Still a pretty rare character. Not getting access to those extra shards I'm sure keeps a lot of players well away from possibly recruiting Sheik from shards. Let us get a little closer and a lot of people would be willing to spend a bit to finish off a shard recruit.

Overall I think this was a better contest. Great prizes, especially with coins. Would have liked to see an additional HOF character being used along with Andre. Was able to get to tier 14 but without him I wasnt able to progress or get close to maxing out the event. More Solo MLC points in the daily tours would have been helpful as well.

Some minor steps towards the right direction, like being able to reach milestone 14/16 with just a little help from the wallet and being able to get faction points in more than a way, even if a player could not take advantage of "early bird gets the worm" scoring methods.
Besides that, you've created a coach that will create new standards all of a sudden...not a good move, especially since his counter-coach is the one that everyone received but only a few were able to evolve.
Also consider reducing the amount of bonus matches and increasing the rewards...it's not like every single weekend has to be sacrificed...

Grab bags are really good and it does give free superstar. My concern about showdown tour and increasing the milestone score which makes it difficult to milestone above 10. Removing showdown coins after showdown, it makes more difficult.

Mostly happy with the event. My guild isn’t high up but we still got 4 of milestones. Got pretty deep on the showdown event.
Agree that there shouldn’t be a bonus solely for nabbing the special characters day 1. If you get lucky get the bonus is fair.
little disappointed we didn’t get more points with the 3rd day tour.
still not a fan of the 20k tour node.
Agree that SD points should be open all weekend not just for the sd event.

I like Showdown most when it is inter-gender.
Iron Sheik HOF isn't the best character in the game, but he still squashes my roster.
For the tour bonuses, id prefer if at least 1 common character is usable for the bonus loot. I appreciate that there usually is, but save the feature character bonuses for the Victory tour.
Overall, its been a good one. Thanks.

I like how spread out the MLC chase character shards were in the milestones. I feel like you have nailed the balance between MLC being maxable with the shards needed to recruit the chase character at 5sb. The only gripe was with last months MLC (Sami chase) the shards were only available in the upper level milestones of the weekend contests.

Faction contest, easy but boring and so so prizes.
Solo event...
good - pretty open on contest characters
bad - same old same...if you grind through everything it gets you only so much.
So you aren't really playing for a goal. You are hoping for a lucky draw from a bag or you have to settle on paying a few hundred to complete. On top of that, they have taken away getting points for getting the chase character except for the first day. I wish the days of grinding getting you the character at 1* were back. I know they aren't coming back but I can still wish.
Showdown itself is still fun to play. The rewards are just OK.

HOF Iron Sheik Debut Contest Feedback
Wow, so much to unpack with this contest. As with any contest within an MLC, there's going to be good and bad. I will take this opportunity to share my thoughts on this platform.
The Card
HOF Iron Sheik seemed a little bit underwhelming at first glance during the initial character previews from the official Scopely Content Creators. However, kudos to the Scopely Dev Team for adjusting the moves and damage buffs to be more in line with today's standards in the current meta (I do believe a similar adjustment had been done to one of the JBL cards in the past year, if I recall correctly). Zero complaints here. I feel like this year's crop of HOF cards are far superior to their predecessor cards.
The Tours
It was nice to see that the new LT tours included CSS that were for the most part obtainable. The only minor exception being the Technicians tour which required either HOF Iron Sheik himself or HOF Honky Tonk Man (super rare card that only a handful of players had already obtained). That being said, the tours themselves were still doable even if bonus characters were missing from your roster. The rewards were fair and obtainable if you were willing to put in the efforts for the hell mode nodes.
The SD Contest
Despite the minor issue with SD coins collected from the previous week not counting towards the milestone rewards at the start of the event, those who were patient enough and waited were able to redeem the SD coins for the appropriate points in the contest. Unfortunately, I was one of those that didn't have HOF Andre or any Chyna in my roster to ensure obtaining enough points to max the solo contest with minimal spending on loot coin pulls over the course of the weekend. Alternatively, I really appreciate that having two HOF technician cards allowed you to double dip and complete the 100 matches for each requirement during the event. I truly feel setting the 100 match cap is good enough of a challenge for players to grind and obtain a result equating to a positive gaming experience. Some have complained that the rewards were underwhelming and the higher milestones were unobtainable. I disagree. I am never going to complain about getting free stuff especially when the milestone rewards included valuable resources such as coins, tokens and TP (all very useful for kick-off Talent Up as well as coin and TP contests throughout the MLC).
Community Event
It was really good to see a community event on the portal after a seemingly lengthy hiatus. Although at the time of my post the final milestone had not been unlocked it was a great effort by the entire Champions community for participating.
Another solid event to start off the last week of the MLC. Bugs and other technical issues were minimal and even the paid loot spins were quite decent (I managed to acquire HOF Sgt. Slaughter by spinning the loot just 1 of 3 times over this past weekend). Overall, I'd say this event was a win!

An ok contest, but maybe shake it up from time to time with an actual chase?

Welcome Iron Sheikh to the HOF world of champions and you are the one who will be a pain for most of the members with your coaching ability of minus mp especially during feuds.
Event was decent playing wise, however the points for SD coins were definitely disappointing as only 10 points were there for that.
Can you please think of a strategy where such chase characters can be achieved by grinding and that grinding can be of any limit but please make it possible without spending as well.
overall good event, sadly I didn’t got hof iron, hopefully can get it from your side.

Needs more cowbell! I enjoyed what I could play of it. Being fairly new I don't have many SS that qualify though. Right seems to have it out for me.
