About Idle Penalty

Recently a lot of players have reported that when their game is idle or with the phone screen turned off for approx. 10 minutes, the game just kicks you out of the match, with your character losing all his energy, not even getting injured. This also happened to me a lot recently, and the pop-up window telling you this is not even translated in some languages.

I don't understand the mindset behind this change. Sometimes you are playing and something in real life pops up and you have to pause your game, having no idea how long said stuff you gotta do it takes.

It sucks to return to your game and have all your match progress lost, and because the character is not injured, you can't even take it to the faction infirmary, having to pay the cost yourself in health packs to retry the match.

This is more baffling in Blitz matches when is known most players take their most useful characters alongside fodder ones. You lose your best character and is over, Blitz tickets are wasted.

I hope and suggest that Scopely reconsider this change, I know most people have thousands of medkits and can heal their superstars quickly, but for new players, and/or Blitz players this can be troublesome, especially if you are in the middle of a rough match and have to start it all over again for no reason other than the Idle Penalty.

I would like to second this.

The most player unfriendly feature. It's not true PvP so why have such a timer in the first place? I'd like to know their reasoning behind this.

It's meant to increase server performance by removing connections of idle players, same as MMORPG's have been doing for years

It only makes sense using such a feature in showdown tourneys. Not career or events. Feud already has a timer. Besides, since that addition came on, the game is uber laggy so in terms of server performance seems backwards to me.

Feud has a timer for the feud but that doesn't take into account the frequent instances of people falling asleep that forces the teammates to sit and wait for the timer to end.

Does the 10 min timer also knock them out of their 3 brawls? Otherwise it's still pointless and will result in their teammate waiting. And besides it's not that long to wait anymore since feud timers are short.

Falling asleep during feud is quite a "stretch" to justify the timer.

I haven't experienced any significant slow down or server performance issues that have hindered gameplay until the this recent update. I'm sure a vast majority of people would agree with me. The timer is unnecessary and lacks the justification/evidence that it helps performance.

I can understand this for modes such as Showdown and Feuds, but for single-player-only game modes, it makes no sense. Also, this is far from an MMORPG to justify the change. Not to mention, last night I got kicked out of the Conditioned Tour after not finishing the last two matches in time. How is that even remotely acceptable? I finished the third match, went to have dinner, and came back to the game being kicked out. Couldn't finish the Tour when I was going for all 3 stars.

I have zero knowledge about game development, but there has to be a better way to handle this.

So. I absolutely hate this new addition where if you’re inactive for 10 minutes, it automatically stops a match. I have kids and a job. Sometimes I jump in for a second to try to get something accomplished then get pulled away with my match still going. I never had issue with coming back to finish the match later but cutting the time is really an inconvenience, but especially since they take the health away. Please change this rule.

The game gets struck sometimes and puts this message.

My solution to this is that if a player is kicked out because of idle delay, then the player should not be injured. The opponent retains their full health then so should the player. If I had to do my match again but my player wasn't injured I would be annoyed but not angry.

Would that solution work for others?

It's good. But they will say it will be abused, if you can't win a match then you could simply wait it and leave with your health. My guess is the idle timer is meant to make you use resources and if you don't have any then the store is there conveniently. Colour clash/move tours would be uber punishing as you only have one free run. If they are seeing a lot of people falling asleep during feud then common sense would be implement idle timer only in feud.

Yup. Totally agreed. I may quit it over it. It is for real the most absurd thing they've done to this game.

The part that makes absolutely 0 sense to me is that I'm not sure what the benefits are of them implementing this. Literally nothing.

What server performance? What is actively going on in the server while I'm playing my game locally on my device, let alone while it is idle?

This has never been an issue before. Its purely a way to pinch a few pennies. They've lost my pennies. I'm done. This is just goofy.

I play every other game on my phone without them doing something as absurd as this.

I hope this kills the game, I know it won't, but I've cancelled my subscriptions and Uninstalled. Done.

I have lost over TWO THOUSAND health packs because of this issue. There should be some compensation, or a large amount of health packs given out each week to make up for what I'm going to lose. This is the worst thing ever to happen to this game by far.

Then can something be done to make sure you don't lose health when this happens? Over 2 thousand health packs lost because of this issue.

Everyone also seems to be forgetting that when you get kicked out, if you heal your superstars and reenter the match you were kicked out of, the gems don't populate on the board, so you have to restart the game and have now lost full health twice. Something definitely needs to be done to fix all of this.

That's unlikely to happen because then someone in the process of loosing a match could just let it time out instead and restart without losing health

Agreed. I don't see it as a positive. IF you think it really helps, drastically increase the size and......here is a crazy thought...TELL EVERYONE IT IS HAPPENING BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN THE GAME. I for one had no clue. If it was sent out several times in advance, I'll apologize.

But back to the issue, make it like a 60 minute idle time. Something more than 10.

It's great for feuds, that's about it.

I’ve been getting the message for loss of internet connection during games for like the past week. I thought it had been resolved, but it hasn’t. It’s causing matches to freeze, causing me to restart matches, and causes the characters I was using to lose all TP😡 It’s happening on multiple game modes. I am plying on my IPhone XR, an IOS platform.

The simple solution to that is to leave the superstar at the health they had when the timer ran out. There's absolutely no reason to cripple the superstar back to 1 health as if they deliberately closed the game during the middle of the match.

The main problem I see here is WWE Champions is over-checking the network connection during the middle of the match when honestly it only needs to check 1/4 of that time. So many times I've been mid-match and saw Loading... screens, or "WWE Champions requires a connection to the internet. Please restart the game when you have connected to the internet." or the screen just goes dark, or maybe you move some gems and it takes up to 5 seconds for the game to recognize a gem move has been made. Honestly, a connection only needs to made after the match is over. Hell I've even lost characters at the beginning of a match because the game lost connection to the server while the match was being registered. The more players playing the game, the more connections are being made, and it just Domino's through to kill the player experience.
