Overall Game Approach Question

Can you shed any light as to why the Product/Dev team continues to push new features when there are plenty of basic game features that are failing that they continue to neglect?
Is it because the code for the basic game mechanics is so stacked upon now that they’re unable to update it without risking more issues? Do they not have the talent on the team to fix basic game mechanics such as showdown matchmaking, coin refresh, the ability to delete inactive inventory, a functional faction chat feature so the community doesn’t have to use 3rd party apps, etc.
Hoping if you shed some light on what the actual reason is, maybe the community can take that in and stop assuming why issues that are consistent reported by hundreds if not thousands of players remain untouched and as is. Thanks in advance.

The same reason the grocery store cashier continues to ring people up when there's a spill in an aisle. The people who fix a bug are not the same people that create new content nor are the people who create new content able to fix bugs.
The team is working on solutions to the complaints of players. We can't go into details about the reasons behind this but I will say the solutions people propose will often create issues they don't realize or move away from the intended play. Other solutions that are good are often far easier said than done.

Thanks a bunch for the response. I didn’t realize bugs and features were worked on by totally separate resources, so noted there. Sounds like it’s more of legacy code stack and as someone who works in the same field I get it. Hoping the team can figure something out with these issues. If it’s not a lack of talent or a lack of resources people can’t really be too upset. Code is a tricky thing and with the game going back 4 years now, I can only imagine some of the messes that are within. Good luck y’all.

Don't let staggered lee fool you yes, the analogy makes sense but ask yourself what makes money, the spill or the product.

I’m trying not to fight, just because in the long run it’s not going to do anything. Would more talented Devs help? Yep. Could they start rebuilding their code in a different environment from scratch and then relaunch the game into production with all brand new code that takes into consideration all of the errors of their past? Absolutely. I just know they’re not going to do that and honestly I’m surprised to even get as much insight as I did.
The problem with a lot of apps and tech is they build the game initially and they’re not thinking about all of the features and things that will follow, they just stack code on top of code on top of code. Now when something simple breaks that we think should be an easy fix, like showdown matchmaking or coin refresh, the code for that is under so much other code and by fixing that you risk breaking the entire game more or less lmao. Is it impossible? Not at all. Is it difficult? Definitely. Scopely just might not have the right Devs for these type of projects.

You ignored the other part of his post where he explained the reason behind it. Analogy or not it makes sense why.

Great to see somebody who actually understands it rather than the many people who think coding/development is simple and as standardized as fry cook. There's an additional layer to what you posit but I'm not able to talk about that but if you're familiar with how speculative game development happens I'm sure you can figure it out. The scopely dev team is actually talented though.
