Why cannot I used shards to evolve my players?

Some players I have over 5000 shards but I cannot use them to enhance or evolve them and I just keep getting more and more

    This would also be a big bonus to be able to evolve or fuse. I have so many shards for my SS, I doubt I could use them for TP enough to reduce my amount... or this could be also combined with a recycling event.

    Great point. There's so many characters on my roster sitting there with thousands of shards but I don't want to spend the tokens to evolve them.
