Warscore Suggestion

At current, the warscore contests are great. They give players a lot of stuff for a fairly reachable milestone for free and paid players alike, however, I feel that more could be done with it.

My suggestion is simple, inflate them and make the max larger and put the weekend character at the end of the contest at a set rarity (3SG for 100m would be my suggestion, but numbers could vary)

Reasons this would be good:

I know from experience that a lot of players hit 40m warscore fairly quickly, and then stop playing for the weekend. Mins have been hit and rewards have been claimed and unless you're going for leaderboard there's no incentive to continue past that point

This would increase playtime during feud weekends, people would grind harder for the warscore if the reward at the end was a guy

This would also increase the amount of people that buy steps, hence money goes into your pockets too. I for one would be more than happy to pay for the steps every single feud weekend in order to guarantee myself a new toy

It also breeds more competition between factions, as players race to hit higher numbers beyond finishing an incredibly high warscore.

The reservations you may have:

"What's to stop players from just grinding to 100m for free"

Under the current system this would take the entire weekend and even then it still might not be feasible.

"We want people to spin the loot"

This is an easy fix, just make the steps part of the paid pulls, and then you get the best of both worlds

In conclusion, I think that this would be a really positive addition to the current warscore system, and allow people to really work for new cards, whilst still encouraging people to spend in order to make it easier on themselves

Edit: Upon further discussion with some of the wider community, there is a feeling that steps being in the $100 pulls would be counterintuitive to people chasing the leaderboards. I'm not entirely certain of how to fix this, perhaps you increase the warscore on the paid steps and keep the method of obtaining them the same in order to still keep a balance between "warscore maxers" and "leaderboard chasers"

I can totally get behind this. So many times over the years I’ve feuded for X amount of hours and come out with little in return.

It doesn’t even need to be the most current weekend superstar as a re reward. Just a reasonably rare superstar who had been available a few months prior would still be incentivising for a lot of players.

Step purchases would increase tenfold if players knew they’d get a guaranteed superstar at the end of it.

I definitely like this in theory, and I love the idea Luke has. I understand it's hard to find a middle ground of something that benefits the player base while helping Scopely's bottom line, but it would be nice to see some semblance of uptick in rewards to incentivize more feuding/activity.

So many people I know, heck myself included, feel little reason to feud beyond 40m because it general there's no real benefit to it outside of trying to push for bragging rights for your team, which let's be honest, outside of the say the top 3-5 teams, largely isn't an argument.

I think it's definitely an idea that could use some fine tuning to make sense for everyone, but I'm all for a little revamp of warscore rewards, I could see it definitely upping the sales of steps and such.

Thanks for the suggestion. The new release characters are set for a rough target number to be released so having them as the final reward isn't likely to happen without it being such a high number that the only people hit it are the ones who top the leaderboards.
