Weekend Events

We are midway through another weekend event and I find myself asking “why do I care?”. What’s the goal? I think that is the most dangerous question a games players can be forced to asked themselves, as the answer should be obvious. The game should be fun, period. To answer my own question, I’m looking to see what’s fun to me? The MLC is enjoyable and the chase is great, so the ability to work towards a goal and eventually achieve it is what I like the most. That answer led me to what could be a fix for the current state of the weekend events.
Currently, there is no achievable goal, you have killed that with the separation of spending and grinding. To me, spending should be a way to lesson the amount of grinding and not it’s own scoring method…leave that for the mid week “spend” events.
I do have a suggestion, using the current infrastructure of todays game that would “fix” this isssue. Lets use this weekends SD event as a baseline. Add 2 more scoring methods.
- Add 5k points per win in SD
- Add 20k points to each token spent “spinning the loot”
This makes the event grindable for all, and gives people a reason to play the event a lot more. It would entice even more spending among the casual and moderate spenders, which is where you could make sooo much more, if there was a good reason to spend.
That being said, make the last reward the weekends card, you have a built in reward system already-
league 18, the last reward would be a 4sb LWO Eddie
-League 17 a 3sb
-League 16 a 2sg
-League 15 and down a 1sb
I guarantee more people would be invested, you’d generate more excitement around the weekend events and it would encourage more spending across the board, for a littany of reasons. Even if you don’t add the card according to league level, making the event achievable to the entire player base would be better then the current layout. Add certain amounts of shards based on league levels instead, but give people an incentive to work on their league level.
You have to think of this as a arena. The more people you put into the seats, the more money your arena generates. This current path of separating and excluded the vast majority of your player base is leading us to a slow death.
I love this game, and have been playing over three years. I’ve quit and come back multiple times. The community and truly the gameplay is what is so attractive about this game in particular. The foundation is there to make it amazing, I hope you see it as well

I agree with statement above. Sd and fueds are what i look forwad to the most.
However with this weekend as an example i maxed sd coins and bonus in about an hour. So whats the point to do any more.
There is no real incentive to keep fighting. I think it would be nice to add a sd point method to the faction mlc. Could keep the spend part but add something like 5k points for every sd win to the faction contest. This way people could spend to get their points or others could grind and both methods help. This also gives more factions incentive to be in the game. If they are in the game they also have more incentive to spend.
As said i really enjoy the game. Look forward to weekend events. But on a weekend like this i am let down and wish there was more motivation to play.
Hope you all really consider recent recommendations from people who enjoy the game and want the best for player base and the company over all

Completely agree with this post. This is something I've been pushing for a few months now. These events with nothing to grind or compete for are really bad for player engagement and are creating a 'staleness' that has been mentioned in other threads.
I highly recommend adding one or more of these things to solve this:
- Contests specific to winning matches and/or warscore.
Last month we had a contest for Zombie Mankind where 10 players could earn the poster by winning the most showdown matches (with bonus characters). This had great feedback but was then removed for this event. The spend event was kept (mostly) separate which allowed some rewards to be protected but gave players the option to play towards a goal.
- Unlimited scoring for SD contests
Allowing players unlimited scoring actually entices people to spend, not the opposite. This event, for example, could have given unlimited scoring on winning matches with Eddie Guerrero. At 3,000, or even 2,000 points per win, we are talking a huge number of matches to max the event. Not many players could/would achieve this target, but it would allow players to get within $100-$200 of the top rewards in the contest. When faced with the option of spending $800 to max an event or recruit a character, most players will pass. When you give them an opportunity to grind the event to a more reasonable cost, many more people are tempted to spend.
- Expanded leaderboards
I always suggest that leaderboards be significantly expanded to allow players to compete with each other and use their rosters to earn rewards. The game is all about roster-building, so there needs to be a purpose to building a roster. Give out 50 fewer posters from RNG bags, and put them into leaderboard prizes for people to play for.
