Fun vs. Fatigue – A Gamer’s Perspective After Years of Loyalty

Alright folks, here it goes – you may know me better or worse, but you probably know I devote a fair chunk of time to this game… and yeah, I don’t mind throwing a few bucks at it now and then either.

After cooling off a bit , I had a few thoughts I wanted to share. You see, we've been in this long enough to know the routine. How many times have we been the lab rats? How often have we heard, “Oops, our bad – but if you used it, that’s on you…”?

These “tests” on us – our patience, our wallets, and our love for the game – keep happening. It’s like they’re checking if we’ll just keep walking like good little sheep in the direction they point. And I get it – that’s business. Painful truth? We invest our time, our money, and yet… we’re still the test subjects.

Once? Okay. Twice? Fine. But when it happens cyclically throughout the year, every year – you start to see the pattern.

Now, if you're a free-to-play player and got lucky with some bonus or exploit – hey, hats off, I genuinely applaud you. You played the system, and that’s fair. But for those who put money into this game and walk away with “sorry gifts” as compensation… yeah, I feel that pain.

Don’t get me wrong – I’m not here to moan just for the sake of it. This isn’t blind anger. Every coin has two sides.

On one side: developers who need to keep the game alive and evolving – and yes, they need our money to do that.
On the other side: us, the players – some spenders, some grinders, but all vital.

One side cannot endlessly milk the other without creating imbalance. And that’s exactly what’s happening. Year after year, the reward structure gets more disproportionate – spenders see diminishing returns, and grinders feel like they’re chasing ghosts.

The most recent example? Flash Feuds.
Sure, I get that Scopely wants to make money. But I also know that many of us walked away from that feeling completely let down. And in the end – no players, no game.

We, together, are the backbone. If we’re not united – if we’re divided by whatever bone they throw us as an apology – the testing will continue. And so will the pressure on our wallets.

I get it, it’s a business. But even in business – without customers, there is no business.
So as a customer, I would like to see the changes "more balance" – rewards that make sense for both paying players and those who give tons of time and dedication.
How about actual, grindable goals for F2P players – something that takes effort, but is within reach?

To wrap it up: the most important thing to remember is that this game is supposed to be fun.
The better it is, the more we play – and the more new players join us.
But constant “testing,” endless bugs, and these repeated cycles? They’re exhausting. And they're starting to show.

So here’s hoping for better balance. Not just for us – but for the future of this game we all love.
