Weight disclosure on posters within listed RNG numbers

I'm hoping to help bring transparency to the community on what i believe is a long overdue and ignored issue. We can all check to see the odds on pulling a feature vs pulling a common poster but this is only a very small and highly deceptive piece of information.

Lets say you check the percentage on this weeks featured poster loot. It will show that the featured posters give you a 2.xx% chance of pulling one of lets say 10 different "featured" loots. Next would be mega rare at a 5.xx% of pulling between 12 and 16 different "items" a mix of posters and tokens. Then onto super rare, rare common etc. All of which get a percentage attached to them that is supposed to inform us of the odds we will pull one or the other. This would be fine if the numbers and percentages on odds ended there but its infact only the beginning and a very deceptive one at that.

Within the featured group of posters alone the percentage of odds on who you might pull vary by as maximum an extreme as is mathematically allowed. You may think you have a 2% chance at pulling the new Liv Morgan when in fact you have a 2% chance at a 2% chance of pulling that particular poster. Thats because of "weights" attached to all of the posters within each section of odds.

Congrats you rolled the dice and won a featured mega but not so fast theres a 6 star silver Walter contained in the loot and its "weighted" to be the most common pull out of the featured megas. What is that percentage you ask? Me too friend, me too.

What would be fair is that no poster would have higher hidden odds or "weight" against other posters within the same tier. Also there's no reason to include tokens that are useless as stand alone items other than to further dilute the pool of available posters.

So what im asking is that any player not familiar with weighting within RNG please do your research. Also to the Dev team here what is the public stance at Scopely and WWE Champions on the transparency of individual weights on pulls?

Thanks for reading and good luck with this weekend's feud.

Hello Zappa, the odds you see currently for each rarity grouping is what will continue to be shared. There are no plans to make changes to that at this time. Thanks

  • I figured as much. Can you tell me if there is ANY information available (not readily shared) on how scopely weights items against each other within pulls? Even if you can't give me those specific numbers..

there are certain rules provided by the like of apple, google ect about what games have to show for loot pulls % wise, the way this game shows them would certainly be in the grey area of those rules, certainly not what one would say open and honest with its players paying them money.

But probably just enough to not be breaking any rules

  • It seems the United States is very helpful to the game companies when it comes to providing the type of information im asking for. I literally can't find any public information on weighted items within loot boxes other than the fact the practice exists and is protected. It's basically up to individuals and communities to spread the word as to protect consumers. It's scary because anyone with an addictive personality is susceptible. You start chasing pulls the same way a degenerate gambler may chase losses at a casino. Just to be clear i am 100% not trying to change anything that Scopely and Champions is doing, they aren't doing anything illegal. I just think that actual percentages for each individual loot item can easily be shared without causing any loss in amount of purchases and would also look better than the inaccurate numbers that are shared now.

apple developers blog have a section on it, stating what developers must do to abide by there terms and conditions, I’m sure android will have the same.

Like I say, I believe this game falls into the grey area of what they can and can’t do as they provide % of pull per section ie featured, mega ect, which apple require you to do but reading there rules you can interpret it in different ways.

I will try find there rules and post link here for you to read see how you

    Interpret them

  • I've read this. You get directed to this information a lot when searching the Internet for anything on weighting items within RNG. I do appreciate you sharing nonetheless. The more people discussing and digging for information the better. The more players are made aware of the practice and the more we all learn collectively the higher the chance we can get the transparency i think deserve. The thing that tells me it's possible more than anything else is that it's the Internet. What do we know about the Internet above all else? If you put it on the Internet it's going to be there forever. Granted mobile gaming is worth Billions upon billions of dollars so they're able to bury, hide and dissuade you from finding anything they may consider detrimental to the bottom line.

Scopely isn't going to divulge anymore info that could potentially cost them future sales and customers.I appreciate what you're trying to do,but they will never share any more with us.

  • You're right but it's always worth it to ask the source for information first. You never know if some old information is made available or any new laws or mandates make information available. Plus the CMs and Dev team aren't the one's responsible for the business side of things so they can only give what they're allowed to.

It would be nice, but it will never happen. If they actually posted the genuine (abysmal) odds, no one would spend on loot pulls lol

  • Yes it would be nice but i don't think it would lower sales. I think it would give people and Scopely a better idea of who and what players want to spend their money on and how they want to spend it. For instance i never purchase anything thing that has any chance of giving me tokens in lieu of posters or shards. I don't mind taking a chance on random posters but when the pool is watered down with tokens or another currency it's a red flag that i just refuse to compromise on.

I think that if the real weights were shared and not the generic "odds" of pulling from a certain tier more people would feel comfortable spending in the long run. Even if individual posters were sub 1% actual odds.
