So what was up with that Welcome Back offer for daily check-ins that a ton of people got? Lots of people were able to claim free cash from the offers if they were lucky enough to have the offer pop up on their game.

No they could not claim free cash, free cash was on day 2 and that "offer" was up barely a few hours Friday so no one got to day 2. That was a standard welcome back offer that games send to inactive players to bring them back but it went out to others so it was taken down right away Friday, as simple as that.

People absolutely could claim 3,000 free in-game cash. They couldn’t get the Day 2 5,000 cash because it was removed before then.
Multiple players confirmed this.

Had several people in my faction and others in CC servers that were daily players who were able to claim the cash and subsequently use it on loot pulls.

Some players who did not refresh their client, were able to complete some tasks of the welcome back checklist before its removal. This was never intended to be a global rollout.

It unintentionally launched for a short period of time, ANY player who was on during the brief window will be able to keep any resources gained due to the inconvenience.
