Player accessing another player's account

I'm not sure where to post this, but A huge issue may, and I stress may, have been resolved...

For the last few weeks, I've been seeing a lot of this message appearing:

  • "Session no longer active. You may be logged in on another device"

Well, I only access the game via my cell phone.

This has kicked me out of numerous faction feud matches, showdown matches and stipulation tours. Going back and forth with support initially only netted a lot of advice to change passwords (changed in Google, ScopelyID and Facebook) and unlink/relink accounts. Well, all of this accomplished nothing - I was still seeing the errors frequently.

Worse - when I'd log in, I'd see changes in my setup. Showdown characters were different. The way I look at my roster was altered (I usually view via Class, but it was consistently changed to Talent ). IGC would be used. Thankfully, the coin total didn't seem to change.

I'd look at my account information and see my account was unlinked from Facebook and ScopelyID.

I looked at the online portal and saw my account showed a different faction name than the one I was actually joined to in-game.

None of this seemed to trip any triggers when asking for support.

Over the weekend during the Showdown event came another set of annoying error messages:

  • "Showdown data is mismatched, please reload the game"

This error would kick me out of matches and restart the game.

Finally, over the weekend, I was looking at the Twitter post for the new update and someone in the comments was looking for me. We hit up a conversation on DM and that person explained they were logging into my account randomly. That person didn't have any of my passwords, social media accounts, etc. They explained they were randomly getting logged into people's accounts. That person was also working with support in an attempt to resolve their issue.

Then....In the DM came the worst part: The screenshots of my account. This wasn't a bluff.

Finally, after learning all of this, Scopely support took away all links to my game ID. I had to start a new account and go through account recovery. I'm back in the game and hopefully this is all behind.

This still begs the question of how this could have happened? The fact it happened so randomly makes the game seem extremely unsecured. What security measures will be taken to ensure this doesn't happen again?

Could this person have made purchases under my account without my knowledge?

Even after all of this, there has never been any in-game compensation. I've lost thousands in health packs., IGC used without my knowledge, Fuses/EVOs done when I was trying to save them and lost stipulation tours due to being kicked out of the game.

I'm at a loss at what to think about the situation. While it seems like it's an extremely rare occurrence, this is going to be in the back of my mind for a while. I seriously thought my account was going to be hijacked and still think it could happen. Someone needs to look deeper into this issue and assure the player base this won't happen again.
