Fixing the MP situation.

Hey there. So I feel like there's plenty of issues we can address in this game, and its kinda hit a brick wall elsewhere but I'm going to give this issue one last attempt.

MP trainers and needs have been extensively ignored as of late. The trainers that exist, while good, are not enough to compete in the current landscape of our game. Things such as affiliation straps completely imbalance the playing field, especially without a consistent way for the playerbase to earn them, even if by spending. The current milestones in the spend event corresponding to the "epic/legendary" affiliation straps are not only too high, but too random to make it worth "chasing" or contemplating going after.

I have a suggestion to fix this. And that is to turn the "epic (2) and legendary (4)" affiliation bags of RNG into prize wall coins so that players may pick and choose a character affiliation they actually need, and can begin to progress in their gameplay.

As it currently stands, Kofi Kingston (Akam/Enzo) is our only 4mp Yellow trainer, and there is currently no way to guarantee a (4) affiliation strap for this character let alone get one at a viable price range. Kofi is required for a plethora of the games top characters, such as Macho King, HoF Dusty, both acro and showboat Montez Ford, Icons of Wrestlemania Batista, Wolfpac Lex Luger, Santa Hogan, Sami Zayn, Vince (trickster), or the new chase this month in Kevin Owens. With there being only 1 Kofi in the game, and no viable way of getting an affiliation strap of a (4) magnitude, the game is severely limited in who you can use in today's competitive landscape, and in turn not only prevents them from being used in a feud lineup for example but also turns off a players desire to chase after said card because they cannot use them.


I hope this isn't viewed as simply a whole lot of whining and moaning, as I have outlined a pretty reasonable outcome of expectation as a change, lowering the cost of the (2) and (4) affiliation straps and providing a "coin" similar to the recent Skill Plate prize wall coin that players can exchange for a choice of affiliation strap. I do not feel this is too unreasonable and am providing my attempt at a solution instead of just complaining and hoping for a fix. My issue personally truly came up after seeing the recent Kevin Owens preview from Mherex, because I have a desire to use that character myself after this month, but don't have the desire to take Kofi off my current characters because he's just not good enough comparatively.


I know others have expressed this same concern, not only for (4) Kofi affiliation straps which I truly do believe is the biggest concern, but also regular (2) affiliation straps for the "common" player who can actually begin to explore their roster instead of being cuffed down. I think the game has advanced far enough that these items should be more regularly available to the masses, and hope this suggestion is taken into consideration.

    Agree with this, we’re far enough into the game that mp trainer restriction don’t really make sense.

    I have to agree with 2Bob, with the amount of new posters we get every month, being able to use them in a competitive mode (aka feud since it's the only one we have) feels to be the right thing and the player base should not be penalized for owning a good number of posters that require the same trainers, in fact i feel we should be allowed to use whoever we want but the trainer situation would need to be addressed to allow us to utilize our roster the way we would like to use.

    And while i see a point in selling them, allowing people to grind and earn one would also be something to be addressed, the High Bonus chance straps we get from a few contests barely provide us with that chance since 95% of times we get either 10% gem defese or 10% gem offense. Some balancing could be helpful.

    Looking at the concept as a whole, I think if you're building a game around separate events with male and female and trying to encourage players to build their rosters for both genders, it only makes sense that two-slot affiliation straps should become more widely available - the logic being that you'd have one slot for your males and one for your females.

    I do think 4-slot affiliations should be proportionally more rare as a result because I know you have to protect those items as "jackpot" featured items, but 2-slot affiliations will help alleviate what has become a significant bottleneck in terms of time spent with the game, where there's often more time spent in roster management and trainer/coach/promoter switches (boring/tedious) than time spent matching gems (fun/engaging)

    Here's an idea...every free character for the next 5 months should be an MP trainer so that when all is said and done, we've got 2x +4MP trainers per color. After that, start adding in the "+2MP A, +1MP B" coaches so that every combination is represented. The timeline could be compressed as needed with other weekly event characters if so desired. From there, bring in duplicates of the characters like Sin Cara or Matt Hardy so that their trainer effect is available to new players too. Once all that is finished, then we can start adding in the "newer" effects for additional trainers.

    I fully support the idea of 2bob here. As much fun the new Cards lately are. The using of mp trainers get more and more limited by the day.


    I personally like the coin -> prizewall idea a lot. Even if it would cost 2 or 3 coins for a specific person and it would take me a month or so to collect those. At least you know it will be obtainable ...


    The whole random thing compared to the current pricing is definitely not worth chasing.

    Hopefully a chance for the better can follow from this!

    I think this is a good idea, although I might start with green gem generation trainer for those who struggle without Rezar.

    Can't agree more with this. I spend so much coin each month on swapping trainers/coaches around because of the size and diversity of the roster now that we really need to be able to have the ability to use them on multiple characters to be able to be competitive.

    This is a very well thought and laid out plan from 2bob. 2 slot affiliation straps should not feel like you have to win the lottery, or sell your first born child. The coin and prizewall setup would work well, and could even replace the skill plate coin in either the faction mic event or the individual TU event. That way you can earn the coins for both still. Save the 4 slot straps as a top reward, or a way to monetize the straps for those who want more than just the basic 2 slot strap.

    There definitely needs to be some solution to the MP Trainer problem. What Bob outlined is perfect.

  • Fully support the idea. As someone with a 2.4M roster and zero affiliation straps for MP trainers I can only echo the pains 2Bob listed. At this stage of the game, this particular feature seems to be a necessity rather than a possibility. For months on end now I spend all resources at my disposal trying to get some worthwhile affiliation straps (faction store, loot) with no success. Every passing month I find myself less and less interested in chasing any new characters since they have close to zero chance of being used in feuds.

    Just to extend this idea, it would be great to have means of obtaining rarer skill plates (boss time, titan's crest, Steph's tiara, etc.) via the medallions, even if it cost 4-5 medallions a piece. That way we could aim for 1 worthwhile SP a month instead of getting a 10th medallion of a sort that is just cluttering the inventory.

    2bob hit the nail on the head. These 2/4 affiliation straps are far too useful to be so difficult to get.

    I'd further extend this request to the creation of additional MP trainers, mirroring the way Butch was added as a red MP trainer even though striker Sting already had that trainer skill.

    I made a suggestion a while back that we should be able to evolve straps. So say you had an affiliation strap for two slots, it could be evolved to allow the trainer/coach to be used on 4 characters. I feel this could resolve the issue as well.

    I totally agree with this and also to add swapping out trainers and coaches during a feud just isn't do able at the minute due to the red ring issues
