Wild Ones Daily Contest - Obvious Cheating, or Did I Miss Something?

So... the Wild Ones Daily Contest gave out 100 points per day for 28 days. There was one day where there was a glitch and some people were able to get up to 100 more points that day, for a total of 2,900 points.
So why is the Top 100 for that contest full of people who have 3,300 points or more? How can the #1 place have 4,525?

There was the chance to buy yourself points for that contest. I think 2$ for 25 points and 5$ for 100 or sth. like that.

There were points available for Purchase in game and on the Portal multiple times.
