Halftime Heat and Pickers community event feedback

I really liked the event was smooth and enjoyable no extras you had to do just complete tours with required superstars

The in game event part was great, good rewards and not too hard, very welcome for sure
the portal part not so much, still people having issues figuring out how to get it working and having single buy offers mean the spenders couldn't complete the event for those that were just waiting for them to do it.

This was an awesome event. I never would have guessed that getting the anti-stun belt for Foley was going to be so attainable and figured it would require a lot of spending. Kudos to the team for what is an extremely valuable reward. Also gave us all something to do to pass the time during what ended up being a stinker of a Super Bowl.

I think the Halftime Heat event was an extremely great event. Used common characters and had decent event rewards, the tours were short enough to get through them quickly during the Superbowl, the loot however was slightly lacking but thats because of restrictions in place for who can and cant be in the loot.
The community event was a superb idea but the execution failed. The deals were actually decent deals however only having offers on the portal made the event nowhere near possible to max. Some players still dont understand to unblock pop ups, some cant purchase through the portal because their bank doesnt allow it, some are still scared of losing their account. There was a lot of money left on the table by having the offers only on the portal and having them 1 time purchases. The misleading idea that the tickets would be able to be claimed for 2 million coins each made it very upsetting to see they were 1/4 of a million in value. Swapping the two Stings teams from what was written on the blog had people confused and scared to purchase tickets in case the rewards would be switched. Overall a great idea however, a poor event that only irritated those who spent. Pair that up with the lack of a good loot pool that the cash could be used to pull on left a lot of money on the table also.
The Erik event was great. The requirements and scoring parameters allowed the event to be maxed without much spending if you were willing to grind and spend resources. Showdown itself is a trash game mode thats completely broken but the event made it a bearable experience. The rewards for the event were also very nice for the effort it took to max the event out. Overall best showdown event in a while. Erik shards however still seemed rare.

Community event had too high of a milestone and didn't reward players who actually contributed. The Goldberg community event in comparison was very good, please make more like those!

The community event should have been fantastic but was executed poorly.
The event was made needlessly complicated for a start. For example, why not just make each ticket count for 1 point? Making tickets 9 points each adds nothing to the event, so why not simplify it? It was a one-day event, so there was limited time for people to figure out the event and communicate to their faction and other players what is required to max. I saw hundreds of questions from various players who didn’t understand the details.
Secondly, where was the promotion? There were already multiple events running in-game and a separate half-time event was listed in-game as starting the following day. This was confusing to many players, while others didn’t know anything about the event at all. Add some pop-ups in game or promote the event earlier in the week on social media. The blog came late and wasn’t successful in explaining the event to those who did read it.
I understand that the team wants to promote the portal, but in-app purchases should still have been available and rewards could have been claimed through the portal.
This was an event where a lot of money was left on the table. With better communication and some tweaks, this event would have been maxed for at least 1 team, if not both. $5 for a rare 4sb poster, 5m coins and a possible 2m coin bonus? That’s a hell of a deal by normal standards.

Halftime heat was a good event in my opinion.
The rewards weren't necessarily easy but not extremely untouchable as so many of the past events have been. It was enjoyable to run through, the milestones were also nice with a decent prize each time. Getting the coins really helped out as well
Overall rating 7.8/10

CON's:
- This was a pure spend event for the entire community with very minimal payout in rewards. The lack of interest was evident by the lack of participation.

I agree with 2bob and others that believe that the community event failed more because of the community than the execution. There's at least a few competent people in every faction that could explain the event for those who were confused, or didn't know how to use the portal. If there is a way to keep milestones locked prior to doing something to contribute to the community goal, whether it is a free event or paid, then that would be fair. Also, people had issues or reservations about payments on the portal. If that's the excuse, do like some of offers in the store : make it one time only, but blur it out on the portal after it's been purchased. That way there's no way double up.

I don't really have much to say about the ingame portion - it was another event, it seemed alright, I didn't really have a Rock or Mankind prepped for it so it was my loss. But the community event had some decisions that were just baffling, and not in the 'oh Scopely is just greedy' way, but just like in terms of design.
I believe a lot of people already explained how on paper it's a really great event that would have driven a lot of traffic to the portal and gotten the community some great rewards, but there was a lot ultimately kneecapping it - the lack of ability to invest in the even if you were a big spender (of who would have really helped the event forward), the general timing of the qualifying deals being only for cash during a time where not only were there multiple other gears and deals going on (MLC, Snoop's deals, the Erik event) but during which there really wasn't a use for the amounts of cash coming in other than the usual - in other words, a cash loot to coincide could have followed it along.
I do think that the biggest issue, however, was that it wasn't broadly announced ingame. It was detailed in the blog post and portal, but I can't recall anything ingame actually mentioning the community portion at all, when it really was the kind of thing that warranted one of those full-page popups. There's other things I've neglected to mention that others have, and yet other things that could be changed in the future (only ~24 hours for this event meant that it was real tight timewise, compounding the communication issue and causing people who might potentially buy in to get cold feet because it became clear that we wouldn't reach either poster) but it was a good prototype and I hope it gets refined in the future.
