New Year, New JBL event

See this is what players be talking about New Year Tour : 2021 no one can do because we do not have the superstars to do it .. so if we don't have the superstars we can't do the tours, can't hit the milestone.. see how that works and let our faction down
We can't do these tours.. we buy and still can't get these superstars.. how is this fair.

Crazy I can't even do the first one

Need to One Open tour

The fact that the tour is entirely gated by specific and hard to obtain superstars as a relatively high level is really disappointing.
I am unable to beat a single node without considerable investment in the one or two superstars I do actually have.
Over the past few months scopely has really improved in this area and allowed me to re-connect with the game by having open tours and then having the bonuses for specific superstars.
To start the new year in this way is so disappointing.

- Wow, making it so that you need either super-rare characters or VIP to do the tours that people actually have characters for is a bit of a mean move. The rewards aren't even phenomenal, just blitz tickets and resource bags.
- The accompanying paid loot is also pretty underwhelming - another loot set full of mostly freebies. At least I finally got Stinger Sting, which is notable because Sting's probably going to vanish any day now.
- On the other hand, I actually like really the coin loot - it may be mostly resources, but honestly they're welcome resources. Even spending the coins wasn't the worst idea, as I got multiple people with their gear (Showboat Cena & Mankind, Paige, AJ).
- Blitz is a bit long for something most people can cheese the usual way, but that's not really a huge point of contention.
- Is there going to be a proper event showdown this weekend? I'm assuming not seeing as there's no details about it on the blog, but I'm also not sure where a faction's supposed to earn 4.5 million showdown coins otherwise, and the event's a bit light with just the short (mostly inaccessible) tours and the blitz that you can only get so many tickets for.

This is a joke,i woke UP this morning looking forward to the last event of the year, and i cant do any of the 5 tours, i dont have the fighters or their level is to low. Easymode starts at 3 sg to be able do to node 1 are you stupid. Just.... This shit. I am so tired of this game and your stupid requested fighters. Can you pls let us all play the game and not Just the top faction. I Would love to play but i cant my rooster is 1000 k but still i cant do anything.

Good game, please new champions.

Pros-The hard mode was free characters. ridiculously easy to max.
Neutral-normal mode was easy to obtain free characters for good factions but difficult for the majority.
cons-no shards for JBL, he was addmited to not even being a top tier guy but gets the recurring top tier trickster treatment of having no path to obtain him other than pure RNG and lower than normal RNG odds. If you want to treat him like hogan/black at least make him as good as hogan/black. The loot was geared towards players that were gated from pulling from it as were the bags. Nobody wants 10k diamonds and the people who could easily obtain it don't need the tokens only TP and coins were worth anything in it. Despite being free there was barely incentive for me to do it.

Tours are way too character specific. I could only do one of them and I can't get past hard on that one.
Why have an event and then lock us out of so much of it?

Alright, post-mortem on this event.
Pros:
- A faction event maxable by factions outside of the top 50. While several faction members opted not to spend millions of coins with less than a week to go until the January MLC talent up, enough members of my faction spent on the in-game-coin loot coins to reach "1-percenter" status, earning a nice collection of rewards for the whole faction, including crucial tokens for some members looking to land some 5-star evolves for the talent up.
- Avoiding the use of contest superstars for showdown was also something that I felt like was a net positive - so much of a regular showdown tournament experience for me is getting my contest superstars accounted for while also battling with the showdown servers. For a faction event like this with no solo component, basing point scoring on raw showdown coin collection was the right move.
- The in-game-coin-purchasable loot coins didn't have AWFUL odds like I thought they would. Members of my faction were able to grab Christmas gear+characters, including a couple that picked up Paige, which is obviously a game-changer for her. I was surprised at the generous balance between token cases/TP bags/health packs in a loot that I thought would be much more heavily weighted on health packs.
- Balancing the tours equally - I liked that even in hell mode, the talent level was equal to the normal nodes. Also, the rewards from the tours were not so amazing that I felt the need to grind out wins with Shelton Benjamin or whatever.
- The premium loot was very pricey, but I was one of several able to pull Acro Sting for a relatively small purchase, so adding a new character to the roster during an event is always a plus.
Cons
- On the subject of those tours, the lack of any open tours was a negative. Also locking certain characters' "Victory Tours" behind the Normal->Hard->Hell walls was a misguided decision – VIP can only do so much – and the tours themselves were a nightmare to keep straight - OK, which one did I need Veteran Cena for? Which one was Lacey? A dreadful user interface experience.
- The New Years Blitz was much too long during an event where I bet several players were either fatigued from the weekly blitz event and/or trying to bust through Lacey daily blitz clears before the end of the monthly event. The one silver lining to this is that the rewards for the New Years Blitz were also pretty booty considering what you could buy with IGC.
- Not one single JBL shard. While I can tell this was a different style of event compared to the usual chase weekend events (because it was more easily maxable than 99% of the other events, lol), it was very strange to feel like the game was actively encouraging me to not think about JBL's inclusion in the game outside of the annoying splash screens.
- Showdown server issues were completely inexcusable. Obviously there are ongoing problems with huge swings in notoriety as opponents attack me en masse in the time it takes me to win one match to counter the tide - how come everyone else seems to be recently attacked but me? - but at least in those scenarios I'm actively able to play. I wasn't able to play for the first 3 1/2 hours of a limited event - not good and even worse when you consider the refresh tax on showdown opponents.

There were other ways to get anything done, it’s was faction event so you could have gotten tickets for the blitz not to mention all you had to do was spend coins that was located in the Prizewall.

Some of the nodes were easy to do as they were not all locked under a rare. Second the contest also had other parts to it where you and your faction would have gotten special blitz tickets and resources, especially when all you and your faction would have had to do was spend coins that were available to help you get more out of the event.

Pros: some of the tours were easy to get thru as they were from free characters. Also it was easy to max the contest without actually having to do a showdown match. I appreciate the resources very much so ty for that.
cons: some rare characters needed, so I understand the f2p. While the resources were good, getting 1 tp x10, 20, 50 that was random made it big cheap. One mayor complain for me was pulling mankind 3SG w/ gear 3 times, it’s a bit over kill.
Other than what I’ve stated, my Pros outweighed Cons, with max milestones that was achievable, I enjoyed it very much.

The biggest complaint I have for this is there were zero shards to be gained. Not only was this a re worked character but one that quite a few people got for MUCH less years ago. Most not have almost no chance to obtain him now that his recruit point is 2000 and after this event they are no closer. I think that was extremely unfair and not thought out at all.
Besides that it was pretty decent. I could stand for a shorter blitz next time.

The consensus of this contest was that it was actually quite boring. Why? For the top factions, it was maxed rather quickly and left 3 days of not much to do in the game. Especially with the attack timer issues in showdown, many players decided to call it quits for the weekend and did not bother with the showdown, no dedicated showdown contest to go along with it made that decision easier to make for many as well. No specific contest superstars to use for the showdown basically left everyone using the same superstar to complete every match in the special tournament.
The tours were very playable, however, still not enough content to get through the entire weekend.

Pros: it was really easy to max for a lot of factions, because you only had to spend some coins and/or do some blitzes. Tours didn't had super rare stars as requirements, "free" pulls gave out some tp's (not much, but it was OK) and HP's
Cons: there were no shards obtainable, Blitz had too many nodes imo, loot odds were horrible again, there were no coins in milestones (to compensate a bit the costs for the "free" pulls), jbl is an "older" character and should be easier to get than the "New" ones, Especially because many have owned him before when he released

Well i guess my faction was not strong enough for that. We got a few tickets but not even enough for one blitz. And of course i checked the option to buy loots with my coins. But the rewards were not worth it. I prefer coins over tps and those were what you mostly could get from the loot.
mainly i was talking about the tours anyway and i couldnt do one of those battles which is a bit dull for the first event of the year. Of course i know that this was also bad luck because i have not pushed the right wrestlers far enough. But i think it would have been smarter to at least open a few of those battles to everyone.
Well, im used to skipping events if they are not meant for me but mainly the big guys. But this strategy of Scopely’s rather demotivates me to leave any more money in the game.

Positive- the event itself was completely possible to max without spending. It was nice to see a completely max able event for free. In lieu of real money everyone could do their one percent of the faction event with just coins/in game resources. As a result the rewards were good but not amazing. For those with higher rosters and more likely to spend they were able to help themselves and their faction by pushing further. The coin loot offered up some resources returns and a minuscule chance at new character and was fine if not tolerable.
negative- the sd portion was plagued by the same issues as the last dozen or so. Try and climb and are attacked 5 times in a minute. A wall of tech mankind and kofi and no hope. People are losing any interest in the sd tournaments and they need to be fixed or made solo only so players have an option instead of just faction mate peer pressure. The tours were also above difficult. If you were missing any options you were set down dead immediately. It took away a lot of the want to push more.

Pros: This event was fairly easy to max just by spending the coins on pulls. It was a welcome change during the holidays to have an alternate option to grinding out a full weekend without spending too much.
Cons: the associated showdown contest was plagued with matchup issues that have seemed to take over the recent showdown contests and take away some of the fun.

Tour requirements were a little bit ridiculous. As someone with a almost 2 million roster I could barely do half of them. The bags in those tours didn’t give out anything good that even made it worth doing the tours unless you had amazing RNG. I did not.

Dude...I was literally only talking about the tours. I went into each one of them. I could only participate in one.
But if it makes you feel better, I was aware of the store offers and I spent my coins on them, as did most of my faction.
It does not change my overall sense of disapproval of the philosophy of designing events not intended to be completed but as long as there are people willing to throw real money at them, its probably not going to change.
