A duplicate gear turns into gear shards

Were there gear shards already in the game? How do gear shards work? I don't think I have seen any content creator videos or anything in blogs about gear shards.

Yes they were in the game previously. You can use them to acquire some superstar gears. The only way to see who you can use them on currently is going to a superstar and clicking the gear icon on their splash page. Then it will show you if the gear is unavailable or can be purchased via another route (i.e. Gear chips)

I have never heard of or seen these "gear shards" before. Can you give us more examples or images?

My apologies. They're actually called "Gear Chips" I don't have anything readily available but if you go to Cesaro for example and click on the gear icon. On his page it will show the gear currency needed to get his gear

Ok, so there used to be silver and gold gear chips and they were not interchangeable. Also, a lot of the gear was not able to be purchased with either type of gear chip. For example, I have Roman's red gear because I'm on android. People on iOS could not get it, ever. Is all of that on one type of gear chip now or is it still a hodgepodge of silver, gold, and/or not available?

Getting same gear which you already have is really frustrating.

How many gear shards do we get for a duplicate gear? If that differs depending from the gear, a few examples would be nice to get an impression. For Cesaro‘s gear we needed 60 gear shards for example. Do i get as many for any duplicate gear?
